iPhone Application, AWESOME!

I found an application on my iPhone that is the best one I've found so far.  It's called "My fitness pal".  They now have a bar code scanner that you can use to scan your foods.  I was in disbelief then scanned my unflavored nectar protein this morning, one scoop is 40 calories and 10 g protein.  I thought for sure it wouldn't be in the system.  IT WAS!  I'm going to use this application to keep me in line with my calories, protein and exercise....It also calculates how many calories you need to take in based on how many lbs you would like to lose per week.  It really seems like a great tool.  Also, you can enter items on your computer into your account.

I added it to my phone and am sitting here playing on it, but I'm not finding the scanning option...
It says I need 1280 calories a day!!

ETA - I found it, but I can't get it to scan a barcode... there a trick to it lol

ETA - N/M I figured it out!  I'm loving it so far!   I like how it counts down for you!

I'm not sure about the phone app but on the computer you can change your daily calorie goals.

I like that you can customize your exercise stuff too.  I use an online calorie burner calculator or the treadmill at the gym to figure how many calories I've burned and input that.  I don't add the calories burned to my daily allowance but it helps me keep track of how I'm doing.

Hi Ladies,

I thought that i would mention some new found important information that i received after one RNY and a revision due to ulcer, Post opt over 5yrs.  No weight gain, but no signficant loss either, but i was introduced to a nutrientist that I wish i knew when i was pre-opt and newly wed post opt.  Ladies, calories in the weight loss surgery community as far as GNY is not a factor, it is how often you eat and ensuring you eat the complete food group.  This nutrietionist is awesom I lie to you not.  I truely thought my tool was done being used, but I actually understand how the body uses the calories that WE are consuming and how we have to trick the body because we don't eat enough calories to keep the body was storing.

I am from the Maryland area, please let me know if you would like her contact information to see for yourself. I am amazed because I was from the old school -over 10yrs post opt, which the newbies might be getting the latest info.  She also explained to me that RNY patients need to be VERYVERY CAREFUL AMOUNT ALCOHOL NOT BECAUSE OF THE TOLLARANCE BUT BECAUSE IT IS NOT DILUTED IT GOES STRAIGHT TO THE LIVER WHICH WILL DEFINITLY CAUSE MAJOR LIVER PROBLEM.  This is with wine and others as well.

I have an andoid phone. I don't think the android app has been updated for the scanner. I'll have to check. I LOVE myfitnesspal.

I have a Droid X. The scanner for the android app is next to the search bar where you type to look up foods.

I have an android and it works--maybe try updating your version?  The scan button is next to where you search for foods

I have been using myfitnesspal.com for the past month to track my physician supervised diet. It is awesome! I don't have a smartphone, but my hubby has an iPod, so as long as we are in a wifi hot spot, I can do all of my entries away from home as well.

The barcode scanner thing is really cool and makes it sound even easier to track your intake!
