clothes!
Have you tried ebay? Our thriftstores here are the same way. All the plus sizes are either very dated or the shirts are ridiculously short. Also, check your local craigslist and freecycle groups. I was luck enough to have an aunt with extremely good taste who lost a bunch of weight and gave me beautiful clothes from 16 - 22 (I am currently in a 24) so I am good for a while. The best part is she is a shopholic and I don't think she wore half of them. Loooove hand me downs.
also check out freeads, it is via yahoo i think.
My besty Sherie bought yoga pants at walmart. she said she got them at just the current size and was able to wear them two sizes smaller because they still looked good. I dunno if this will work for you but I have been transetting myself into yoga pants for a few months now- they are comfy and the fit is nice and hides my POUCHtummy. I am getting my surgery on August 29th and HOPEFULLY I will be able to transition out of my yoga pants soon enough.

That's a GREAT feeling to fit into smaller pants. I am 7 months out, down 75 lbs and went from 22 pants to my current 14's. My weight loss is stalled at the moment, but I know I'll lose more and I just keep at it. I'm also late 50's so perhaps I'll lose more slowly. At any rate, I find some Ross stores have a great Plus section and good prices. I've found things on clearance racks and end of "season" sales are a great time to pick up clearance stuff. I got activewear recently for $12 (T-shirt for 2.48 and black yoga pants for 9.52). Happy shopping and keep up the good work!
