eating & drinking
i cannot break the habit of eating & drinking at the same time! with the band i did easily b/c it made me barf it up, but this time around nothing happens, soo it makes it hard. i suck at doing things w/o punishment, lol. any tips? i mean i know the time lines, etc. but how on earth do you not eat & drink at the same time? my husband keeps getting on me about it too, urgh.

I need to start practicing this I guess...I am the 1 who has had at least 1 refill of my drink before my dinner even arrives when out to eat, and always have a drink in had at home...I can't go to bed until I fix a big glass of ice water to keep on the bedside. No diabetes, I have just always been this way...and eating without drinking is going to be a chore for me too...guess I need to start getting use to it....I don't know what to tell you but I am sure it will be hard for me too

My dietician in the prep class I am taking said to just bring you meal to wherever you are eating. DO NOT put a drink by your plate. She also said hydrate before your meal and make sure your food isn't so dry.
I immediately go for a walk or find a distraction after a meal. By the time I realize it, it's been an 30-60 minutes and I can start fluids again.

I thought it was going to be extremly difficult for me not to drink fluids with my meals. I too was a person who drank 2 or 3 soda's with my meals. Now, I stop drinking fluids when I am cooking dinner ( normaly takes 30 minutes) and I do not bring a cup to the table. I too, distract myself after dinner, by doing the dishes or hoping in a bath. By the time I am out I can drink away. Havent had any issues yet
If you want the best chance of getting to your goal weight and staying there, you will make yourself stop. People I know IRL who eat and draink after RNY never got to goal or have gained a lot back. I ain't going down that road!!

of course i want the best chance thats why i asked for tips. those of you who gave me ideas, thanks! its such a habit, so its hard to break. much like smoking, i stopped craving them before i got over the habit of wanting one just because. much like my morning fast food drive through meal, i stopped craving the food but the drive home was habitual, so i started driving home a different way. anyways, i appreciate the helpful tips.
