Smells
No, it's not just you. I too am more sensitive to smells--food smells AND all others. Too much perfume on someone and I go crazy, stinky street smells (I live in NYC) and greasy food smells all set me off. I've thought about carrying a hankerchief so that if i need to, I can put it over my nose, but haven't yet.
I'm A LOT more sensitive to smells since the surgery and I've always had a pretty good sense of smell. When I first got home not only was I sensitive but everything smelled BAD! Even my poor husband smelled so bad to be the first couple of weeks. Now I can tolerate a lot of smells and of course I love my husbands smell again (thank god)
Welcome to our world. Smells bother many new post ops. But, some of these issues may linger for a long time. I had trouble dealing with the odor of bacon cooking. It makes me want to barf. But, even at 5 years post op, I still have to leave the home or go to the opposite end of the home when someone cooks bacon. I don't mind the flavor of an occasional piece of bacon, but the odor of bacon cooking is still an issue to me. DAVE
