In the process

Well I have decided to get the Roux-en-Y procedure.  I was going to get the gastric sleeve but the surgeon I chose, which was a recommendation from a friend of mine, does not do that surgery.  The surgeon I chose only does the RNY and lap band and sorry to say that lap band was never a choice of mine.  I don't really like the idea of having a foreign object in my body.  Anyhow, I just wanted to know if anyone could give me any advice to prepare myself for the surgery.  I am excited but also scared.  One of my biggest fears is excess skin.  I will probably need to have a follow-up procedure to remove excess skin.  It doesn't make sense to have the surgery if I don't like myself after I lose the weight.  I know that I will be ok after the surgery is over and I have lost the weight.  I will be able to do alot of things that I am now unable to do.

Does anyone have any suggestions to prepare me for the surgery (before, during or after)?  I am presently trying to keep my carbs intake between 90-100 and protein intake between 65-90.  I was told by the dietician that after about 6 months that is where my protein and carbs should be at.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  I have talked to a few people that have had the surgery but one thing I have noticed is if you don't do what the doctor says, you will have complications, not that everyone who has had complications didn't do what the doctor said.  PLEASE HELP ME.  If there are any websites that I could look at, please let me know those too.  Thanks in advance.
