One of my twin daughters crawled up into my lap the other evening and I said "Did you know that I've lost more than you weigh?" She weighs 65 lbs - and I've lost 80. We both took a moment to marvel at that! By the time I reach my goal, I'll have lost 160 lbs - half of myself! Very weird!

I get it when I tell an non-wls patient I lost 180 pounds. Their eyes just get so wide and they look at you in disbelief. They always want to know how...like there are a million ways to lose 180 pounds!
I am still in the overweight BMI category and always will be. I'm grateful for the weight loss I have had and that I got rid of that 180 pound hulk on my back.

I've finally reconciled in my brain that I'm normal and that I've lost more than 1/2 my weight.  It's taken a long time and lots of reflection.  Many of you are still early in the WLS process, I was probably around year 4 when it finally dawned on me that I DID it.

Last night a WLS friend and I went to the casino so I dressed up a little, it makes me feel good and proud.  I realized again last night that I fit in wherever I may be and I wasn't worried about everyone staring at me.  Here is the self-photo I too with my phone.

All the woman in my family have struggled with weight issues.

My middle sister weighs more now than she ever has.  Her youngest just turned 7 and she decided she'd had enough and was going to go start the WLS process.  Long story short, she found out she was pregnant and is now 7 mos along.  She plans on waiting a year-two and going through with it.

Anyhow...what amazes me?  Before she was pregnant, my sister weighed ~325 lbs.

I lost her PLUS some.

Holy hell, that boggled my mind.   :)

Thank you so very much!  I struggled for so long, physically and mentally.  Things are great right now and I feel like I'm living a fairy tale life.  I spent so much time in the hospital but it was all worth it.

WOW.  Just... wow.  Amazing.  I cannot imagine how difficult life must have been with all that extra weight... and how free you must feel being rid of it!  Congratulations!
