Do/did you keep a food diary?

I was resistant to keeping a food diary pre-op and I gained instead of losing. Post-up I created a simple table in MSWord to track my protein, calories, carbs, and fluids. I realize that I have to do this for accountability so I make time for it. My pouch seems pretty permissive and I could easily lose control if I didn't have to face the numbers. Also, in case I develop a physical or emotional problem, I can show my nut / surgeon / therapist exactly what I've been doing.

I do mainly because I have a horrible memory and it helps me keep track of where I'm at in the day.   (In the pre-surgery days it was selective memory and all those candy bars I ate would just magically be forgotten!)       I like being able to see daily where my protein grams are at, which is really the only thing I keep a close eye on.     I'm hoping that once I'm further out I'll be in the habit of using it so that selective memory doesn't re-appear!

I use calorieking.com which you do have to pay to use, but it's the food database I like the best.   There are lots of free ones though, you could try them out and see how it goes.

I track the protein, carbs, fats, sugal, cals, and water, not what I eat because I usually eat the same foods. I dont track on weekends thats when I up my protein drinks, never know where i will be or what i will be eating
