Life of a 4.5 month post op
I am writing this for those who are wondering what daily life at almost 5 months post gastric bypass is like. Also, for those vets who could be so kind to tell me how I'm moving along so far.
Wake up and prepare a protein shake. My doctor says I should be ditching the shakes but I have a busy life with work and school and need to be certain my protein is in check for the day. With my protein shake I take my first round of vitamins-multi, iron, biotin, and b12. Every 2 hours from that point I take calcium. For lunch, I have either chicken breast with some anti pasta salad, a quarter of a 100 calorie pita wrap with turkey and cheese, the other 1/4th of the half is for dinner...plus some fruit. Occasionally if my friends go out I will get taco bells pintos and cheese with a side of guacamole or a snack wrap from Wendy's and it the insides. During the day I make sure I exceed 64 oz of water. I find the more I pee the more I loose. On the commute home I'll grab a decaf iced coffee with skim milk and a couple splenda from dunkin donuts..when I get home and my protein is in check I'll have a 100 calorie bag of popcorn or even 2 pieces of dove dark chocolate...I have self control so I dont feel I'm sabotaging my self. However, sometimes I make a mad choice and have pretzels as a snack.
During the week I'm golden, on the weekends when I work my whole schedule gets thrown off. I barely eat until 7pm and my vitamin schedule falls behind...it's hard when I'm running around at work. As for excersice I notice when I swim or walk I loose more weight. I need a frigging gym membership...I've lost 76 lbs in 4.5 months. I don't loose everyday, it comes off in 3 lbs chunks. I'm not perfect with my eating but m human and need to work on finding easy healthy ways to make meals and freeze them. I'm also 21 and lazy...well I just wanted to get that out there. Life is pretty darn normal and my pcos symptoms were stopped dead in their tracks. My blood pressure is 110/70 and my hormone levels are normal for a girl my age. I'm waiting on vitaladys vit d to come in the mail so I can start that to bring up my levels. Any tips or comments are welcome! ----nicole

Sounds to me like you're doing just fine. Not perfect, you say you need to get more exercise, but who is perfect? But you're aware of what you need, you're losing tons of weight, your on top of your labs and what vitamins you need. I think using protein shakes is fine if you need them to get enough protein or if you just like to use them for breakfast because they are fast and easy. For someone five months out that doesn't like the protein shakes, they should be able to get enough protein eating food. But if you like them, there is no reason not to have them for breakfast.
I think your snacks are fine, too, as long as you're making sure you get enough protein and they don't trigger you to want to eat more and more.
