Hello all...

I was released from the hosptail yesterday.  I'm doing okay, quite sore - I still can't sleep...can't find a comfortable position.  I went from the recliner and to the bed - back and forth last night.  The binder I'm wearing is digging into me - but I know it is for the best.  Trying to get all my liquids in and walking.  Forced to walk actually - I find I have to pee every hour on the hour.

The RNY surgery went very well.  The band removal however was a *****  My original doctor placed my port in my upper left chest area.  When I went for my first fill I found that it had flipped so I had to have revision surgery.  When Dr Nye got in there Monday he couldn't get it out.  The original doctor on the "port revision" actually stitched it to my ribs.  There was two stiches and it was loose on one side - causing it to flip.  He had to make a new incision under my left arm next to my breast to get to it - the whole "removal" part took over an hour.

I go back to see Dr. Nye on Monday to remove my drain...looking forward to that.  I'm going to try to get a sponge bath in a few minutes (with hubbys help) - I stink and my hair - yuck...is getting washed as well.

Thought I'd update everyone on my progress...going to go chill out in my chair for a while - am a bit dizzy looking at the screen.  Hope everyone else that had surgery around same time as me is doing well.  Please write when you can...I will try to check in later...

The band/port removal sounds awful!  You must be sore all over.  Hopefully, you've been given something good for pain.

Take care,
Laura

Glad you are doing so well!!!  Keep up the walking and drinking!  I had band removal to RNY back on 7/11/11 and getting better as each day goes by.  Just think that your band is out and now it is all downhill from here.  No more fills!!!!!  I am thankful for that!  Keep us posted!

Best Wishes on speedy recovery!  The port removal made me cringe, no wonder you are sore!

Keep hydrated and rest and keep us posted.

I had my surgery on 1 August as well, and am doing ok.  Really sore, quesy, and tired.  Everytime I drink a sip of water, my belly rumbles.  Luckily, I do not have to wear a binder, just compresion socks.  I'm forcing myself to walk as well (although I was told to not walk more than 6 minutes at a time.)

Your band removal sounds awful.  I hope you feel better soon.

I got home yesterday as well.  My surgery went well according to my surgeon.

I'm having problems with most of what you mentioned, sleeping, sitting comfortably, getting in enough protein and liquids, nausea and my stomach rumbling.

I'm trying to sip sip sip but I feel like throwing up.  I'm measuring what I eat and how often I eat trying to maximize my protein.  I just want to do everything right but I feel quite drained.

Stay well!
