CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU MAY THINK...I DO HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HUMAN ANATOMY!...However, I am new to the RNY world. And the way that my PA explained the use of a breathing tube in the future was different to what I expected. I was highly drugged when this, and a bunch of information was shared with me though. But for people on here to say that obviously I do not have knowledge of the human anatomy, shows how ignorant they actually are! I am highly educated and probably know more about the human anatomy and the psycology behind why people on here are so rude, than half of the people on here. My advice to these rude people is to, bite their tounge when they don't know what they are talking about & use this board & other boards to help people, instead of making themselves look like jack *****. Thanks! :o)

Thick skin is much needed- I honestly have not seen a single rude answer to any of your questions- but that's my perspective.

Agree. Thick skin is needed and the ability to take what you need from answers and don't take things personally.  It's always a risk when you ask strangers for advice or put personal information out there.  It's akin to being on a bus, subway, plane or anywhere with a bunch of strangers.  I'm guessing that if you stood in the middle of a crowded place and put personal information out and asked for advice, you would get a similar mixed bag of responses from a lot of different people, with all different perspectives and personalities, and you would find some of it offensive.  I think for the most part everyone is contributing in their own way and their intentions are good.  Be careful what you ask for.  If you want advice, you're likely to get some you don't agree with.  That's okay.  Take what you can use and send thanks that folks are willing to offer up their time.  Keep coming back and visiting.  It's all of us together that make it interesting.

I assume you mean that you  didn't like the responses to your question about a breathing tube in future surgeries?  You didn't like it that you got a serious answer?  When I read your question, it sounded like a pretty serious question to me so I gave it a serious answer.  I'm sorry if that made you uncomfortable.

I'm not sure what response(s) made you feel like an idiot.  I did not think your question was idiotic and certainly did not mean to make you feel that way by  my response.

Now, if you aren't referring to the responses to that question, ignore what Ii said above.

You know, one thing that happens on internet forums is that all our communication is limited to written words.  We can't see body language, we can't hear tone of voice.  Sometimes that leads to miscommunication.

Many people on this board do have strong opinions.  In that thread about the breathing tube, though, I didn't see many people expressing opinions.  Mostly I just saw people giving facts.

I think she gets offended by anyone and anything... It may be the hormons... she just had surgery a few weeks ago.
Just in case - I blocked her... some people can't handle anything... I wonder if I was as sensitive back then...

I was trying to find a rude answer within your posts and I really couldn't find one. I feel like Hala gave you an honest answer and even though she says that about your knowlledge of human anatomy I don't think she meant it personally. No one here thinks you are stupid. I ask questions ALL the time and I don't feel like people think I'm stupid. Poet Kelly always gives very honest answers and again no one thinks you are stupid.

I'll that if you felt I was talking down to you or talking to you like I thought you were stupid, that was certainly not my intention.  My explaination about the esophagus and the trachea was worded very simply because I don't know you.  I don't know what type of education you have or how much knowledge you have about anatomy.  So I chose to word my answer in such a way that it would make sense even if you had very little knowledge about anatomy.

I guess there are two reasons I did that.  One, I wanted to make sure you understood what I was saying (and that others could understand it too, even if they have less education than you).  Two, if I answer a question using a whole bunch of really big words that people aren't necessarily going to know, maybe people would not understand what I was saying but not want to ask me to clarify it because that might make them worry about people thinking they are stupid.

But I guess some people will be worried about being treated like they are stupid or people thinking they are stupid no matter how I word things.  I think that probably has more to do with their own emotional issues though than my choice of words.
