What vets taught me.

I would be sick as a dog and she would post this beautiful food porn! It gave me hope.
Sorry to hear you can't eat.  I'm on an eggy diet right now. Deviled eggs, egg salad, fried eggs..I think I'm turning into a chicken.

Amen, sistahs!

This place is a safehaven and godsend for those who need support, both WLS related and otherwise. I consider my surgery a whopping success and that very well may not have been the case without the wise counsel (which sometimes includes some butt-kicking) of those who take their personal time to try to help those going through what they have already endured.

Thank you, all... you rock.

Well said, Deb!! It is posts like the one you mentioned that seem to drive most vets away, which is a shame.

Well said Deb!  I totally agree.  When I first started researching this surgery I was on OH all the time.  I would sit on my computer for hours at night reading these boards and learning as much as I could.  What I learned was invaluable to me and things I am so glad I knew before having the surgery.

I am fortunate enough to live near Pam T and she runs a support group which I attended regularyly the first year after my surgery.  Now I have moved and live 2 hours away so I haven't attended like I used to but man, she was a godsend to me while going through the process....so much knowledge and so caring!

Since I had my surgery, my three kids all had surgery and we have lost 610 pounds collectively.  I never would never have been able to do it without these message boards and learning so much from the vets.

I don't post as often as I used to but I still read OH every day.  This surgery has saved my life as well as my three kids life and I am grateflu to those who offer support and help and I always try and do the same.

Like you said, thank you to the ones that came before and thank you to the ones that come after, we are all in the same boat and can all use support!

What a lucky gal you were to be in Pam's support group!

This process is not the easy way to lose weight.  In some respects, it takes age and maturity to realize what is needed as a post op.  There are "rules" to help in this process that require a lifestyle change.  AND, it takes time.  I found that support groups offered me a wider insight into the process, and at 5 years post op, I still attend monthly meetings, usually 3 of them.   Even at 5 years post op, I've had a WOW moment.  I got a new bike a month ago. I've lost around 10 pounds or so, and again back in Onederland this morning.  Changing a couple of supplements and daily exercise seem to work, so some of the "bounce back wt" can still removed, so there is still hope for those with this issue.  I've always relied on people with experience to help me with issues I encountered in life, the work place, etc.  I'm glad to pass that expereince on, even with the flaming that happens from a few.  DAVE

Dave,
I've always found you to be level headed and a wealth of information.
I think you are cool.

Amen and well said.  The vets are angels, they stay around and help us out inspite of the bashing they sometimes get.  They have been invaluable to me and I have never found any of them to be mean or rude.  I hope they stick around a long time and I look forward to the day I can join them.

To all of the vets,  Thank you, thank you and thank you.  Though that is not nearly enough.
