What does "protein forward" mean?

People often use this term - but I'm not sure what it means - "protein forward".  It was recently mentioned in the thread regarding malabsorption.

I don't count calories - but I do know that protein calories keep me from getting hungry and overeating.  If I spent all of my caloric intake on simple carbs - I would end up exceeding my daily caloric requirement (whatever that number is - I don't know) because of the hungry munchies that would be created.

Although, I have to say I did have one weird day at work - we had an information booth all day - and we attracted people to the booth with a big bowl of candy.   I ate about 1 candy per hour and nothing else the whole day and was perfectly satisfied.  I thought , wow!  a candy diet!!!!!  But then I had to admit that I'd soon become very unhealthy.

To me it means that when I fix my meals that protein is the main focus of the meal. I measure out my food so when I have eaten all my say chicken I can take a few bites of my veggies if I have room. I dont eat many carbs at this point so they ar enot even on my plate.

Yeah, Chery is right, it just means get your protein in first, if there is room then you can have foods like fruit or veggies.

Today I had dinner over with friends and I always tell them I am all about the protein....people just don't get that!  LOL  So we have corn on the cob and chicken soft tacos, I ate one row of the corn and then half a taco shell with the chicken meat.  It was good, but not my first choice in a protein forward type of diet.

You can't always be perfect.  Just try to be most of the time.

Ah, protein first - I get that!  I thought the "forward" part might be all about pay it forward... preventing hunger in the future.

My plate, at 21 mos out, is always high protein primarily.  And I eyeball everything and picture it mashed up in my stomach... to equal about a cup.  So I have surprising amount of room for salad veggies that mash up to almost nothing.

Seems that I have weight and activity balanced pretty well - 121 lbs lost and staying right close to that.  But I do worry about malabsorption disappearing.  I would not like to have to cut back...
