Congrats to you and your son, Paul.  I choked up reading your OP.  I know this was an amazing moment for both of you.

Kudos!

Funny how all of us here on OH don't even know you and your family in real life, but that this post still has the ability to have such a profound impact on us... I'm totally tearing up as I write this.  That is so absolutely fantastic, Paul... you should be so proud of your son, and even more so of yourself.  It has been you and your willingness to embrace this change with both arms that has led to this revelation in your family.  For years to come, this will be a proud moment on which you and your son both will both look back on with pride and happiness.

I am so happy for you both... fantastic.

Paul, as the father of a 9 year old boy I'll admit that this story almost brought me to tears.  What an amazing experience! I can only hope to have something as amazing as that run happen to me and my son as a result of my RNY.

Awe, what a great dad you are.  Having quality time with your son and teaching him to stretch his limits as well.  Tell him congratulations for me.
