What a weekend....went to our county fair and had a hard time finding something that I could eat, most everything there is fried foods.  I came across a place that had indian fry bread with taco fixins added to the top.  Okay I knew ground round, beans, lettuce, tomato....so that is what I got..to my surprise there was not three ounces of anything.  Oh well.

Now the next day I was craving cookies.  I went as far as picking up a variety of cookie packages and reading the labels.  I guess at this time I couldn't justify the cookies, not saying that I won't but as of now I will forego the cookies, donuts, etc.

I would so love to know if folks are eating any kind of sugar free cookies, what about sugar free brownies.....

I love, love, love Pure Protein's peanut butter and their chocolate protein bars so I eat one of those most days as a "treat."  They help me stay away from the other stuff most of the time.  ;)

The SF items have typically a lot of Sugar alcohols. That is a really not good for a lot of people. I dump on SA, and if I do not - I get lost of. and then some - gas. Nasly, smelly gas. Pain from gas - not fun...

I still don't really snack.
I drink 2 protein shakes & eat 2 small meals a day.
I take 2 medications for an ulcer & thyroid med all have to be taken on an empty stomach.
It's tough to get all my liquids, medications & supplements in so I can't really eat much.

I eat protein bars a lot of times when I want a sweet treat.  I have eaten cookies and stuff like that since surgery, though.  I can't remember if I've eaten any sugar free cookies, but I have eaten regular cookies, just one, after reading the label to make sure one cookie did not have enough sugar in it to make me dump.  I recently made brownies for my partner, not sugar free, and I ate half of one (which was a really tiny piece).  I did buy no sugar added ice cream once but I have a hard time eating ice cream in moderation so I think it's best not to buy it often.

Not trying to lead you down the dark path but I personally don't think there is anything wrong with eating a cookie once in awhile.  My daughter made cupcakes this weekend and I ate 1/2 of one.  I'm trying to change my eating habits to everything in moderation.. nothing wrong with 1/2 a cup cake... something VERY wrong with 3 cupcakes then 3 more the next day ect.. If I can continue my life eating a cupcake/cookie/handful of chips here and there and not an entire package or bag of them I think I've won the battle!!!

I may get flamed, but when I eat sweets I eat real sweets and not sugar free stuff.  I have found that I can eat sweets if I've eaten a regular meal first and I can't exceed 20 g of sugar/carbs in a serving.  Just fine by me.  I never want more than a taste anyway and I'm way more satisfied than I would be if I were to eat SF stuff (which gives me gas).

Great replies, I believe I will stay away from the "sugar free" stuff as I have been firmly reminded about sugar alcohols and gas.......no thank you maam.

Someone stated treats in moderation and I have to remember that I can do moderation, yes it would have been three cupcakes before surgery, heck it was two donuts every morning...I can do a 1/2 a cupcake, or a cookie.....

Somewhere in a post I read over the weekend and another time or two stated that in order to gain 2 pounds I would have to eat 7000 calories........that is not going to happen.  So a cookie or other sweet is not out of the question.

Not sure if I dump so this will be an interesting exchange....cookie, dumping we shall see.

My gram makes me diabetic cookies flavored with raisins and orange rind -they taste kind of like a scone and she makes them tiny. Also, I LOVE the fiber one brownies -so chocolately and you can't go wrong with more fiber!
