Please don't spend that much money on B12 - if you can't get the injections, then get the sublinguals.  There is no need to spend that much money on B12 plus I havent' heard good results with the nasal spray anyway.

$333  = that is nuts.

I just got enough for 25 injections and it cost me $1 but if it wasn't covered by insurance it would have only been $28.59

Yep, get a prescription from your doc and start calling around to pharmacies to find out who has it.  If you get the script, you can do the shots yourself instead of going to the doc for them, if you want.  Or you could fill the script and then take it to your doctor if you want to get the shot there.

I got a script from my doc and had to try three different pharmacies before I found it. Now I bring it with me to her office and they give it to me there.

I was just a little low on my 6 month visit, so they will recheck at 9 months and if there is no improvement I guess at that time i would go to the shot.

Did you increase the amount you take for now?  How long is a little low?

I only had to start taking it after the 6 month appointment. I take 1000mcg a day I believe it is.
I don't know what "a little low" is.  That is all the doctor (who was filling in)said.  It wasn't a big concern it was just "a little low" ?

Should i be asking for numbers? or more information? I just trust everyone knows what they are doing lol.

Well, a lot of us get a copy of the lab report so we can see all the numbers for ourselves.  B12 is one that they often say is OK or just a little low when it's really very, very low.  Most docs actually know very little about nutrition.  They study it very little in medical school.

If you were taking no B12 for six months, I would be surprised if it wasn't extremely low.  But if it's really just a little low, then 1000 mcg a day is fine.

Definitely ask for your numbers and always ask for copies of your labs.  Especially B12, being a little low isn't good and can be serious. We want to be high - the normal range for B12 is 200-900 and we want to be between 1200-1800, so if you are a little low, I am hoping she is not talking low, meaning 200-400.  Anything below 500 puts us at risk for  nerve damage, and below 300 for any period of time, it can become permanent. So, please call tomorrow and get your number.

Many people need way more than 1000mcg daily.  If you cant get your number right away, I would take 3 pills per day for a couple of weeks to get your levels up and then you probably need to continue on 2500mcg daily.
