truly blessed - started back to work

I was laid off 2 days before I had surgery.  At 4.5 months out, I got a job and started.  I think the lay off might have been a good thing for me.  I don't know that I could have gone back to working 45 + hours a week and teaching two nights a week right after surgery.  Almost 5 months out and it's kicking my ass!  I'm worn out!!

I like my job and coworkers so far.  I seem uniquely suited for the position.  They changed the position from an hourly, non-degreed position to a salaried engineering position....  just for me!  I'll be traveling some and that's exciting.  I've never been to the north east and all of our current jobs are up there.  I really lucked out.  My old insurance would run out the first of November and now I'll have the new insurance the 1st of September.  I'm a very, very lucky girl.  I've also had 4 calls for interviews since I accepted this position 2 weeks ago.  I'm thinking the economy is really picking up at least locally.

School started back today and it was so weird seeing students I'd had last spring.  They knew I'd had surgery.  The ones that did recognize me commented on my hair.  I'm like, "I've lost 100lbs and you notice my HAIR!?".  Still everybody was complementary.  I have the sneaking suspicion it won't take much to make me vain.....

So that's why I haven't been on here much, I'm busy!!  It's good but it'll take some getting used to.  I coasted through this summer and now it's back to the grindstone.

Wow- so happy for you.  I'm glad things worked out so well and
that you're busy and employed.  Who knew the jobs we end up
hating would be so hard to get?

Congrats on losing a person!  You're beautiful!

Congrats on the job!  I love travel, so it sounds great.

I hear you on the hair -- I joked with my husband about it for months -- this is the best "haircut" I've ever had.

Oh Carrie, I am very happy for you.  sounds like everything is moving in the right direction for you.

And the hair, I wish I had kept track of how many folks said, I didn't recognize you, your hair is different.  Yeah, 100lbs and hair.
