Enough with HAIR LOSS already...
I've been experiencing hair loss for about 2 months now. I'm close to 6 months out from surgery (MARCH 2nd). I have thick hair, so I still have hair, but it's thinning near the front around my face. I'm just tired of seeing it come out in wads when I wash my hair. I'm dealing with it pretty good I think and trying to get in as much protein as possible.
Question for those veteran RNYer's--"HOW LONG DOES THE HAIR LOSS USUALLY LAST"? When can I expect to see less hair in my hands in the shower and more growing back on my head? Anytime soon?
Thanks for your help!

Typicall hair loss runs 3 to 8-9 months post op. Hair begins growing back as soon as it falls out. The majority of women get a shorter hair cut style during this time--new hair growth tends to blend in better. DAVE

Mine started around the 5 month out mark and lasted for roughly a month or two. The first few weeks after taking a handful of hair out of my brush every single day is when it freaked me out to know I needed to take action. I started taking Biotin pills, prenatal pills for a few months and then around 9 months out I started using a hair thickening shampoo called Folicure. They all have helped big time and my hair came back and is healthy as all can be. For sure take the biotin if you aren't already. I go over board with biotin and prenatals, but I had thin hair to begin with.
The hair only fell out for about a month and a half. Once I started taking the supplements it took a few months of steadily taking them before I noticed my hair coming back to life, especially once I started using that shampoo is when I really noticed a difference.

My hair started falling out at my three months anniversay. I was expecting it but didn't know it would fall out this bad. It is scary to see handfuls of hair every time you comb it. My hair was thick too but if it falls out for another month or two, I know I will have to invest in a wig. I will start taking the biotin, like I read from someone. Sure hope it helps. Just know you aren't alone. Good Luck
