Hot drinks on the liquid post op period?

I'm looking over my materials.  In my 10 day post op liquids, it mentions decaf tea/coffee.  I would like that, but do they mean hot?  I like hot tea (I'm British) but can't imagine it not hurting my incisions.

Anyone else tried hot drinks at the early stage?

i drank hot tea the minute i got home,,,my pouch just loved it,,hot and warm liquids set better on my pouch then cold ,,some people are just the opposite though,,i don't see how it could possibly hurt your incisions.

I drank a lot of SF hot chocolate when I got home from the hospital.  I put in a little SF coffee creamer for taste and made mine with hot milk.  I was always cold so the hot was really nice.  I don't see why you would not be able to have hot.  It should not affect your incisions at all.

I started getting hot decaf herbal tea in the hospital the morning after surgery!

Ohh yummm. I'm a brit mind you so I like the good old black stuff. Think wegman's carries decaf PG Tips. Beauty of it is, fat free milk is on my list so I can put a splash of that in it. The only thing missing with be the teapot and china cup!

The blacker the better for me, too! Give me English Breakfast anyday...I wonder if I can find that in decaf :)

I don't think hot tea would hurt your incisions.  Many people enjoy hot drinks post op.

Whi*****isions do you think it would hurt?  You have incisions on the outside of your abdomen, but anything you drink doesn't touch those.  Your stomach as staples in it to form the pouch, but those are staples, not incisions.  The only incision I can think of that liquids you drink would touch would be where the pouch is connected to your small intestine.  If the tea is not so hot it burns and hurts your mouth and throat going down, I don't think it's going to hurt the connect between your pouch and intestine.

I meant around the pouch.  Sometimes, if my throat is sore, it hurts my throat or the inside of my mouth.  I imagined the possiblity of hot liquid hurting my pouch, but everyone has assured me it's quite the opposite.   Which makes sense seeing as I can drink clear soups.  Wasn't thinking that through properly.  Looking forward to my tea.
