Nitinol anastomotic clips instead of staples prevent RNY marginal ulcers

I am headed toward getting the laparoscopic RNY.  It seems marginal ulcers are the big-hitter complication of this surgery.  I came across this 2010 medical article, which toward the end suggests that replacing the current surgical staples with "nitinol anastomic clips" (used in cardiac surgery) could prevent marginal ulcers by eliminating the foreign bodies (staples) that serve as a big nesting site for ulceration in RNY patients.

The article noted that this change could "revolutionize" RNY surgery and its complication profile, which certainly sounds intriguing.

I am wondering if anyone has heard of this or would consider asking their RNY surgeon if they could employ these nitinol clips in lieu of staples if requested by the patient.
