So I posted yesterday that I had a lot of parties this holiday weekend and I asked some of you to join me in trying to learn to new behavior at parties.  Go to enjoy the people not the food.

Boy did God really test me this weekend.  The first party they bought tons of Mexican food but it was nice cause they knew I was coming and got me shrimp ****tail.  It was healthy and delicious.  I did not have any trouble turning down the other food.  Later that day I did have some tortilla chips with salsa between lunch and dinner and it was just a few and I was fine.  Dinner was beef and salad, and I hardly ate any of it.  Small pouch that night!

Today's party was horrible for food.  They had chips and dip and that's about it. Oh, there was watermelon, so that is what I ate.  I started to get really hungry....so I told my mom we had to leave and we did.  I came home and had salad and protein.  Learning lesson, bring a back up meal to parties.

Have one more party tomorrow.  I think I am going to be fine.  In fact, getting kind of sick of looking at all this food and watching others consume it with no regard.  Today instead of chips and dip I played fetch with some cool dogs that would jump in the pool to get the ball.  I love dogs so that was fun.

So there is my update Kelly!!!  Love you girl!

I am glad that things went well for you. I learned early out that no matter where I went, I had to bring my own food.  I couldnt trust that they would hve food that I could eat.  My first solid meal was Thanksgiving - of all days. I wasn't sure what I could eat, so just in case I brought some turkey salad I made, yogurt, a protein drink and jello for dessert.  I was able to have a few bites of turkey, a spoon of mashed potatoes,a spoon of stuffing and few bites of cranberry sauce.  It was the best meal that I had ever tasted at that point after being on liquids and pureeds for a month.

My family and friends got used to me bringing my own food and had no problems with that.  They were just glad that I was following the program and didnt' want me to get sick eating the wrong foods.

Sounds like you are doing well.
I always have emergency food. I even took protein bars on the cruise with me even though I was surrounded by food. They came in handy after the hearty kayak adventure.
Also..if I go to a party and they ask me to bring something I always bring deviled eggs.

Good for you for leaving when you  needed to so you could get something to eat.  Next time you'll know to bring something with you that you can have, but it's OK to take care of yourself.  You didn't think that you had to eat the chips just because it was the only thing there.

And you still had fun even though you didn't eat all the junk food.  And you had three parties so you got plenty of opportunities to practice your new behavior.  Next time you won't have to be so worried about it because you know you can do it.
