This might be bad?

I have been craving, endlessly, something sweet and carby.  Today at the store I found sugar free Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches.  Totally not that bad for you, 140 calories, 29 carbs (ok that is not great) 4 grams of sugar and 2 grams of fat.  Overall not the worst......TASTED LIKE HEAVEN!!

HEAVEN!!  OMG!~!!  The best thing I have eaten since surgery.

This is not good.  I need to have Brett and Eric finish them off and get them out of my sight!  LOL  Even though they are not really bad for me they are not good either.

However, if you are having a sweets craving, these things are to die for.  Sweet craving gone.

Well, it would be bad if you ate them all the time.  But you wanted something sweet, you ate one, it was really yummy... now get someone else to eat the rest if it's hard to resist the temptation to eat more right away.  I think it is actually good in many ways to allow ourselves treats once in a while.  The hard part, of course, is learning to do it in moderation.

Actually, there really isn't any temptation.  I had one, it was great and I don't want another one.  But in about 3 days I might be like...."oh those ice creams are in there" and I may want another one.  I think they are a more once a month or so treat, not even a once a week when only 4 months out.  Also, with my possible RA i am not working out so don't want all the extra carbs with out a way to work them off.

Just very happy to find that you can still have treats, and they are not even that bad for you, after RNY.

I still miss candy sometimes, not chocolate, more chewy candy like Hot Tamales or Mike and Ikes.  I used to eat those often pre surgery.  It has just been recently that I have started to miss it and been wanting it.  These are the things that I find I am battling, that makes this hard.  Yeah, I don't feel hungry all the time and 5 ounces of pretty much any food fills me up, but my head still wants things that my body can't have.  I was never good at telling myself that I can't have something, hence I got fat.  So I have to find another way to deal because telling myself no doesn't work.  You know what I mean.  But I can't eat candy cause I dump and not just that, I have only this short period of time to learn to control my eating on my own.

Anyway, didn't mean for this to get so long, just talking out some feelings I have been having recently

Yeah, you are on of those people I hate :)  In a loving way....lol

Shakes are gross, sickening, and make me want to gag, so if I tried to fix a crave with a shake my body would go on strike!   I get maybe 3 shakes in a week, maybe.  I eat my protein, and I probably don't hit very high numbers everyday, but when I talked to my doctor at my 3 month check up he did not seem to upset that I did not like the shakes, he even said it was better to get off of them when I could eat enough protein.

So All i eat is protein and salad and oranges, that is pretty much all I eat, except today I had an ice cream sandwich what had 4 grams of protein, so hey that is good!  And of course no sugar

Not all shakes are gross - you just havent' found the right recipe and right protein powder.  For many, it takes a lot of experimentation.

Here is a link to a website with tons of recipes

Using SF puddings, SF syrups really make a big difference.

Thank you, but I have gone practically bankrupt trying different shakes, water, whatever.  Flavored, non flavored, cold warm, in coffee, mixed with ice.....the list goes on.

I tolerate Pure Protein banana flavor and cookies and cream.  I say tolerate cause I can not even get the whole can down.

For some of us, protein is just horrible and nothing makes it good.  But I am glad for those of you that  have found a way to make it enjoyable.  Maybe one day I will too.  But not magic yet.

GNC store has a money back guarantee - if you dont' like it, you can bring it back with within 30 days with your receipt.  I have done this with there red packages Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein - it comes in atleast 10 flavors, possibly more. I love the chocolate and use it every day, the cookies and cream was okay, also comes in unflavored, banana, strawberry, vanilla and can't remember the rest.  It comes in 1 pound bags, 2 pound and 5 pound tubs.  I recommend trying a couple of the 1 pound bags, save the receipt and if you dont' like them, you can bring them back for a full refund.  They also have a program where for $15 a year you can buy their Gold card and whenever you shop during the first week of the month - you save 15% off your entire purchase. They also very often have buy 1 get 1 one sales.

These are the 2 recipes that I use - the first tastes like a chocolate milkshake - you would never know there was protein in it and the second one is hot chocolate with protein powder in it - again, you would never know it was in there.  You don't have to try them, just thought you might want to have them for your records when you decide to try something again.

Chocolate Monkey

8 ounces of milk (i use soy but can use FF or lactaid)
2 tablespoons of SF chocolate syrup (I use torani or DaVinci)
5 or 6 ice cubes
1 1/2 scoops of chocolate protein powder from GNC - 1OO% whey protein - pro performance
2 heaping tablespoons of SF chocolate pudding powder
1 sliced banana

put it all in a blender for about 45 seconds until smooth. It gives you a delicious chocolate milkshake with 45 grams of protein.

I might try this....it could be tolerable.  Thank you for being so "pro-protein"

You should look into getting a job working as a sales person for protein powders, if you love what you sell you do really well.  You could make a fortune!  LOL
