I can't take it anymore...i have seasonal allergies and have always taken allegra d.  I can't take that anymore because its a slow release.  I am absolutely in agony here with my nose stuffed and running and my nose itching and sneezing and itchy throat.  I can't quite get a clear answer from anyone what i can take.  I did talk to a pharmacist and they said it was alright to take the claritin reditabs that melt on your tongue and are not slow release but last 12 hours.  They supposedly bypass the stomach completely by dissolving in the mouth.  But i dont' trust anyone thats not a doctor telling me what i can and can't have.  Will be calling the BS RN and seeing if i can get an answer tomorrow but today...if anyone has some clue what they take i would appreciate it so i can mention it or ask about it whatever...

The pharmacist is probably right about the claritin.

Slow release meds will not hurt you if you take them.  It's just that you won't absorb them all because they won't stay in your digestive system long enough.  You'll absorb some, just won't get the full benefit.

Just avoid anything that contains NSAIDS.

Regarding pharmacists...my oldest friend is one. She went to school as long as a doctor does, and also did a residency like they do (she's a PharmD - some are RPh). They know their stuff. They often know more about drugs than doctors do...
