Yup, you are not alone! I have learned that straining hard can be dangerous and damaging.

So please do follow the suggestions of the other posters re: Miralax, Colace, and suppositories!

Don, you are so funny. ROFLMAO!!!

Oh my, I wish I could say I feel your pain.....but I havent even had surgery yet.   For the past 10 years I have had IBS, so I poop about 7-10 times almost daily... yes I know that sounds odd but....it has decreased since I was diagnosed Type II Diabetes... or maybe it has increased....because of the metformin.

It really all depends on what I eat....

So im kind of flipping out about what you have said.......I just dont know how I would handle that!!

But I agree if this is common among WLS folks then listen to your peers and do what you need to!

And OMG I NEVER TRUST A FART

To prevent the constipation take Magnesiun  oxide daily which is in alot of constipation remedies then when you get to normal take magnesuim citrate and you should be regular ever after. A wise RNY freind got me going before I had a problem.

Oh my gosh, I know how you feel. I haven't had it "stuck" but I've had large stools that make me dizzy, nauseated and sweaty. It's happened maybe 3 or 4 times since surgery. Not sure what the problem is because everything comes out easily enough.

I almost passed out on the toilet a couple of times due to large stuck poop.  The worst was when I had to "disimpact" myself to release a huge stuck poop.  I have passed specimens the size of a large baked potato!  I have found a "formula" that works for me now, enabling me to go every day without straining:  3 stool softener caps every night plus a couple of pieces of sugar-free chocolate per day.  Works like a charm!  The excess gas from the SF chocolate is worth it to me as long as I'm able to have daily BM's!
