Im gonna do it!

Here is a short list of some of the foods I eat weekly-
tenderloin steak
lobster
jumbo shrimp
tuna sashimi
all kinds of fish
grilled chicken breast
egg products
cheese products
chili
soups
fresh veg and fruit
skim milk w/ protein supplements
oh, yeah, and water.. alot of it. but not right after your meal
So you might have to give up some stuff for a bit but not forever. I miss sandwiches and am sure i will eventually go to subway again but i will eat the kids meal instead of a adult meal. lol
take care...
I've never had a C section so I don't know how the pain compares. I did not have too much really bad pain with my RNY. The first few days were the worst, of course, but mostly then it hurt when I stood up or moved in certain ways. It was easily managed with pain meds.
You don't have to give up food. That seems to be a pretty common misconception. But you will still eat after RNY, just smaller amounts and hopefully healthier choices. My life does not revolve around food now, but I like food a lot and I eat plenty of delicious food, most of which is good for me. In a typical day I eat about six small meals. And I eat good food. Including the occasional treat, like a slice of sugar free cake I ate this evening.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I too shared your fears about "giving up food", but as the months go by and you're able to eat more "normal" foods, you will still be able to enjoy some of the things you love.
I told myself I have to realize that food has NOT been my friend, it's been an abusive lover. It's had me trapped in a cycle of ups and downs and has always had control over me.
I haven't had my surgery yet, but I keep telling myself that my life is worth more than being about to eat a Krispy Kreme donut. There are so many things I want to do (include have a baby), and if I want to LIVE my life then I need to take control of food. I've tried for 20 years on my own and I've decided I need this tool to help. me.
Please continue to read the post op boards, so many people say yes, the first few weeks are rough but almost NONE of them regret it, and just about all of them say they'd do it again if they had to in order to be as happy as they are now. I've been researching WLS for about 5 years and RNY is the most commonly performed and the most successful in long term weight loss. Just do the research on your surgeon and make sure you feel comfortable with him/her. This was very important to me, making sure I was putting my life in the hands of someone experiences and knowledgeable.
Good luck to you!!!
