Fish oil
Just checking to see if after the surgery if I can continue to take this. I have read in past posts that you do not absorb oil, so would this be true for fish oil too. If I am unable to take this, what is a good substitute. I have trouble with my joints, which is what a sports medicine doc recommended I take, that long with glucosamine/chondroitin. Thanks for your help.
You can take it. It's not that we don't absorb oil at all, we just don't absorb it as well as we did before surgery. You'll absorb some of it but it's pretty much impossible to say how much.
A few months after my RNY, my skin was getting really dry and itchy. It was driving me nuts. I starting taking flaxseed oil (no fish oil for me, I'm a vegetarian) and it did seem to help my skin. So I guess I absorbed enough of it for that purpose.

Well, I know I took two soft gel things a day but I can't remember how much was in each one. That was a couple years ago, my memory is not that good!
