Hey everyone, it's been a while since I have been on here, but I feel I need the support!  I know why I have not lost, and actually gained about 20lbs back...CARBS!!!  They are my enemy but I LOVE them!!  Any ideas to help me break the carb habit????  I just started back at the gym, and doing my shakes and vitamins, but I know the Carb monster will attack!!  Any and all ideas welcome!!
Thanks, Mel

You just have to make up your mind that you are DONE with carb overloading. Maybe break the chain by drinking 3 protein shakes and eating two Frozen meals a day that are 300 calories or under. Do this for one week (or 2) to get your metabolism rolling again. AND don't forget, 64 ounces of water!

I have to avoid refined carbs like an alcoholic avoids alcohol (something I have experience with, too).  For me it is like poison.  It is more addictive then drugs for me.  I have been dealing with weight issues for over 40 years and I have lost and gained a ton of weight and every regain began with me trying to eat things like bread, sugar, candy, etc, in moderation.  Every one.
There will be a detox period.  It isn't easy and they may call to you.  You just need to stand firm.  Drink lots of fluids, get in a lot of protein, eat as well as you can with fresh vegetables and meats.  It probably took a good 2 weeks for me to get them out of my system and once they were out of my system I haven't craved them since.  There are plenty of substitues for nearly everything and I don't feel one bit deprived.
Good luck to you.

At this stage you certainly don't need to go on any crazy diets - just back to basics, protein first, complex carbs, exercise and vitamins ...  Your tool is still there and 20lbs should be relatively easy to lose while living a healthy lifestyle!

Meal replacements etc will not help your metabolism - quite the opposite - it's probably how most of us screwed up our metabolism in the first place!!

With the carbs you basically have to go cold turkey, and it takes a couple weeks to lose the cravings, but boy is it ever worth it!!
