I Just have to get motivated I have access to a full gym and numerous walking paths. I was very motivated before my surgery. I just don't know  what happened. I know that partly I fear hurting my self and worry I am not getting enough food. I feel great and I have lost some weight. I want to get more active and take control of the weight loss process. I guess I just don't know what's to much. Should I base my workouts on how I feel or shoot for intensity. I don't like boring hum drum workouts. I pretty much like a challenge but I have hurt my self in the past, and just don't want to go down that road. I hate aerobics classes like zumba and all that crap. I just prefer to turn inward when I workout. So far my plan is. 60 min walking 30 moderate and 30 intense including warm up and cool downs. Alternating toning exercises every other day such as squats lunges push ups leg lifts...etc for the second half of my 30min session on those days. What do you guys think.

Hi Zoe...

I went through the same thing for a period of time. I just didn't want to get out, my reasons were slightly different. I was motivated to hang out at home in my lumpy red chair and cruise through channels. My doctor was very persistent in my getting myself to the gym. He told me what I could and couldn't do, and when I was released to do everything. I also sucked up and paid for a trainer for six weeks (currently). It's made an amazing difference.

Except my butt. I don't care if you're 20 pounds or 300 pounds...that freaking bike seat HURTS!

You don't have to tell me about the bike seat lol...can't stand that thing. I guess i feel so inferior at the military base gym all the fit soilders and beautiful people. I feel snubbed. I know it is in my head but being heavy is embarassing when everyone else is so fit. I should just get over it Im gonna go tonight thanks for understanding you do more than you realize.

I get the turning inward during a workout.  That's why my preferred workout is my treadmill -- no one is allowed to disturb me during my workout.

My advice is to base your work out on how you feel.  Work up to the intense workout. Don't torture yourself, you won't stick with it.  The no pain, no gain thing isn't true AND if you find working out that miserable, you won't continue.  Just get into a routine.  Start slow, and gradually push yourself over days & weeks.
