Help!
I had my surgery on August 8, 2011. Everything was going well until about three
weeks out. I started having all kinds of issues with dehydration, UTI,
Electrolytes going crazy, dry mouth and dry heaves.
Last week I was in the hospital for about 4 days for all these systems and home
now. I would like to know if anyone else experienced this systems and especially
DRY HEAVES and how long did this last?
Is this something I have to life with. I am so tired of going thru this. I am
beginning to think that I made a big mistake.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
being dehydrated will lead to things like UTI's, dry mouth and nausea.
Why aren't you getting enough fluids?
I had problems like yours the first few weeks because I was very nauseous and threw up a lot. I had to go to the ER twice for IV fluids.
It's not something you just have to live with. Do you have a prescription for something for nausea? Are you taking it? What are you drinking and how much?

Kelly,
I have been drinking and drinking. I just don't understand why I am going thru this. While I was in the hopital they had me on Raglin (sp) for nauseau. The doctor is calling in some meds for that today.
I just want this over. I want to be normal again. I find myself staying in the house and not going out because I feel so bad. I do walk daily.

Are you on anything for nausea or stomach acids? Such as Carafate or Pepcid? I was on Carafate for a month and Pepcid for 3 months after surgery. Were you admitted to hospital through ER or on your doctor's orders? What did they do in the hospital to handle your symptoms? What were your release orders? You will get through this, but they have to figure out what is causing it. Some pouches are more sensitive, some take longer to heal,a lot of different things could be going on. There can be complications with any major surgery. And while we hope we aren't the one it happens to, we have to be mentally prepared if it does. I know when we are experiencing negative issues time seems to stand still and a week seems like months. But a few months from now all of this will misery will be memory and you will be on the journey of your life! Hang in there.
