Anyone get a seroma?
I had a seroma right after plastic surgery last year. Typically what they will do is one of two: 1) surgically place a JP Drain that you empty, measure and reset. It would stay in until your output is greatly decreased.
(JP's hurt like the dickons) I opted to go in to surgeon's office every other day to have it drained. He would insert a large needle and drain the fluid off. His office is just minutes from my home, and I the nerve endings hadn't "come online"--so wasn't painful; only time consuming.
But the one thing I would recommend is to up your iron intake--and have your iron blood workup done right after. The seroma I had did push me into anemia.

Like Rhonda, I had a seroma (a very large one) after plastic surgery. I went to the surgeon's office every 2-3 days (for about 5 weeks) to have it drained. He drained off over a cup of fluid the first time (we did not measure it after that). If we had known it would last that long, he would have put a drain in.
Unless it is causing some kind of a problem beyond being unsightly and midly uncomfortable (e.g., mine was putting too much pressure on the large new incision and he was afraid it would cause several inches of the incision to open up), they usually do nothing since most of them resolve in a few weeks without any intervention.
If they are not even sure you have one, it is probably not big enough to warrant doing anything to (and will likely be gone in 6 weeks). If it suddenly becomes larger or problematic, you can always call and describe it to them and ask to be seen in less than 6 weeks.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Thanks all, It only gets tender if I fiddle with it. It was much larger before and seems to be shrinking. They weren't too concerned at 3 weeks, just said to watch it. It's in the area where
they removed my lapband port so I figured there was extra stuff going on from that. Seem like
it a roundish lump, feels golf ball size on the top, right next to an incision. The incision is really closed up, so I can't imagine anything leaking out. Should I be more concerned?
I have to call for some test results tomorrow so I'll ask about this too.
Thanks
