Meeting a friend tomorrow at almost 3 weeks out.  Wasn't planning on eating out so soon, but I don't get to see her often.  She knows about my surgery.  I suggested somewhere that did soups because I'm still on mushy food.

We agreed on Panera.  I'm looking at the black bean soup.  I usually measure before eating so this is going to be tricky.  It says the serving is 13 oz.  As it's a thick liquid, I think I should be ok eating about under half if I take my time.  If I feel full sooner I'll stop.  If I eat half it will be 120 cals but more importantly, 1.5g of sugar (but 25 g of carbs of which 4.5 is fiber)  what is the rest of the carb content?  Only 1.25 g of fat.

Does this sound like a good choice? It seems the best there is on the menu.

The carbs are from the beans.  Beans are carbs.  Good carbs/

Panera has a nice interactive nutrition guide on their website.  They were one of my favorite sandwich places to eat preop.  Haven't been there at all post op, but have looked.

I just went to Panera for dinner and got Broccoli cheddar soup. You can order a cup instead of a bowl. A bowl is 13 oz and a cup is 8. Get a cup!!!

You know I thought they did the two sizes.  I just didn't see it on the nut guide.  Yeah, I'll definately get a cup. Thanks,

Personally I don't worry about calories.  My doctor even said not to.  I mean I don't eat 2000 day, but I don't really count them.  So just order whatever soup has more protein and get the cup, not the bowl cause you will waste most of it anyway, then sit and eat and enjoy your time with your friend.  You will be fine!

When you get farther along they have a great asian chicken salad which is good and I just eat the chicken off of it and some of the greens.  I just find it hard to be in there cause the bread is so temping and the short bread cookies are to die for.  But I have always managed to stay good.

Sounds like a fun day!

I have done Panera a couple of times.  I get the cup of soup and usually the french onion or the chicken and noodle.  I asked for extra broth and then just chewed the lil chicken pieces really well.
It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!  I love their broccoli and cheddar but didnot know if that would work yet.  i'm 3.5 day sout.  sometimes i do ok with finely chopped or really good chewed meat and sometimes not   When i hit a not i run back to strict mushies for a few days.

I would get the cup of black bean.  Best protein choice.  Chew the beans really well before swallowing.  Eat small bites and go slow.

I would NOT choose the "creamy" soups.  High in calories and simple carbs.  Not much protein either.

Best wishes.
