Softy pouch in Vegas next week

Another thread led me to post this for advice.  I was offered two free nights in Vegas next week and, not being a fool, I accepted.     But this leads me to my request for advice.

I will be 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery next week and am allowed sooooft foods.  I don't drink so that is not a consideration.  Outside of scrambled eggs & cottage cheese is there anything else you guys could recommend?  Should I take things with me or rely on the casino's cafe?

Also, I like table games such as poker and blackjack.  Does anyone know of a good ratio to use between plunking my butt down at a table and time spent walking around?

Can't waity to get there!

I'm not going to be a lot of help on the food part.  Besides adding yogurt and probably cheese sticks to your potential food choices.  SF jello, SF pudding...that kinda fun stuff.  I don't do Vegas. I do day trips to Atlantic City with friends that like to shop so I always meet them out for lunch.  Sorry.

Good for you for playing table games!  Slots...worst odds in the casino.  And I think completely mindless.  But I know some love them, I just don't get it.

I went about a month out.  I really found getting up within a 2-hour window was best.   I carried a small timer in my pocket that vibrates.  I needed that to keep from getting sucked in and losing track of time.

Good Luck and keep that blood flowing!

Ohhh Vegas!  I've always wanted to go!  How exciting!

I would suggest that you bring your own snacks and food.  If the casino cafe has items you can eat, then great!  However, sometimes if they are preparing things, there can be added sugar and butter that may upset your tummy!

When you arrive in Vegas, maybe you could swing by a grocery store and get some of the suggested items, like SF pudding, jello, broth, etc.  I bet the cafe will make you a scrambled egg or egg white, and probably other items.  I just wouldn't COUNT on it, because you never know!

I hope you have a blast!!!

Check with the cafe in advance to see what they'll  have that you can eat.  Soft foods can include things like soup, chili, egg salad, tuna salad, yogurt, refried beans, etc.  As always when you eat out, ask questions if you're not sure how much fat or sugar is in something.  I would take your protein shakes, of course.

I'd probably get up and walk every hour or so.  Have fun!

Tofu is a wonderful soft protein choice as are beans.  can you have fish yet?  Also if you eat egg whites and choose greek yogurt over regular the protein is much higher.  As to moving; get a pedometer ang just get in 10000 steps per day...or rather build up to where you can get  10000steps per day.

Yes, i can eat fish as long as it is a soft species (halibut definitely not in the running, for example!).  My surgeon won't allow any beans tight now except for refried--which are totally disgusting so that won't be happening.  :-)

So it looks like I'll take some stuff in a small cooler with cheese sticks & a few protein shakes, etc. and rely on the hotel's small cafe for the rest.

You guys are a big help here--thanks!!

Just got back Sunday. We took cooler with 20lbs of ice still in bag. I took yogurt, cheese, deli slices, water, instant decaf, and protein powder. It was cold all weekend. Take your card for discounts. (Harrah's). Good luck I lost about $700 there someplace! Send me a message if you find it! Lol
