6 month labs and I have toxic level Vitamin D

B vitamins are water soluble - vitamins A, D, E and K are fat soluble - unless physiology has changed since I was in University ...

Dry D is not carried in fat in a capsule but once it is absorbed into the blood stream, it's all vitamin D!!!!

There is absolutely a possibility of toxicity with an excess of vitamin D if it is taken as a supplement - not so from the sun or diet!   I'm surprised Vitalady says otherwise ...

I think you got them all.

I would probably cut back on the D3 and take it three or four times a week.

I would keep your B12 just like it is.

I didn't see a biotin or B7 level drawn.  Did I miss it?  That's an unusual one for them to draw.  I see the note about getting too much but I don't see it in your list of results.  I see the B6 is high, though.

I would up your protein a little bit.

I would be just thrilled with labs like these, though.  Even though there are a couple things I'd adjust slightly, this is excellent.  I look at lots of people's labs and this has to be one of the best reports I've ever seen.  You also made sure you got all the relevant tests done.  You're on top of stuff.

Thanks Kelly, I really appreciate your input.  I have tried to follow closely to what you and the other vitamin gurus recommend.  I will make some adjustments and see how that works out.  Lately my protein intake has been between 90 and 100 grams.  How much higher would you go?  B7 was on there it was with the comment that it was high possibly because of the extra Vitamin C I was taking with my iron.

Ideally your total protein level would be at least 7.0.  So I guess I would increase your protein as much as you have to in order to get it there.  I am so glad I seem to absorb protein really well!  I know several people from OH that have to take in more than 100 grams of protein to get their level to 7.0 or above, and mine's up there with only about 70-80 grams a day.  And I don't eat meat so I think I would have a hard time increasing my protein intake significantly.  I wouldn't stress about your current protein level, it's not bad.  But I would increase your intake a little if you can.

I also had a high vitamin D - it came back greater than 150 - the lab couldn't measure it, it was too high.  My Endo freaked and made me stop it for 2 weeks and come in for  a redraw.  I stopped for the 2 weeks and it dropped to 112.  I was taking it 3 times per week to begin with.  Then I went back to 2 times per week and it maintained at that level.  My Endo mentioned that she was afraid that I would develop kidney stones from the high vitamin D level and sure enough 1 month later, I was in emergency surgery with a blocked ureter with 2 stones on the left and multiple on the right - this was in July and I am having the one on the right removed on October 19th. I have been suffering in severe pain from the stones since July.  It is no fun.  So, if you are told to cut the D, please do it.  I don't know if I would stop it completely since you were taking it daily but I would definitely cut it to 3 times per week - half the dose. This is exactly why I get upset when I see people recommending vitamin D daily - it works really well and daily dosing at the high doses is just too much for some people.  You should start off with 3 times per week and if that isnt' enough, you can always increase it again but starting off daily is just overkill for many and can lead to toxic levels.

Don't stop the B12 - we want our levels to be high -  you actually have room to increase, not decrease. We want our levels to be around 1200-1800, so 900 is okay but not great.  Please don't cut your dose, anything below 500 puts you at risk for nerve damage.

You dont' list the ranges - check the cortisol?  It depends on what time of day it was taken - 4 can be normal or it can be low.  Check the range on your lab slip. If it is low, talk to your PCP or an endocrinologist.

Your vitamin B1 is way too low - it is at the very bottom of the range and you want it at the top of the range.  Vitamin b1 deficiency is very serious, as serious as vitamin B12 deficiency - it causes nerve damage and can cause cognitive disfunction as well.  Many times these things can become permanent if not caught early.  When I was diagnosed with the same level as you have, I was put on 300mg of vitamin B1 daily.  Now 2 1/2 years later, I am still on the same dose.  It works to bring up the level and to maintain it.  You want to be at the top or over the top of the level. B1 is a water soluable vitamin, so you just pee out the excess. better to take too much then not enough.

your B6 is dangerously high.  I am not sure the exact range, I hope it is different than mine since mine only goes up to 21.  B6 is toxic and causes nerve damage when too high.  If you are taking a b complex or anything with B6 in it, please stop it NOW>

Where does she see you are getting too much Biotin - B7??  Is she confusing this with B6?

What is the range for your vitamin K?  your PT is high and can be related to vitamin K

vitalady says you can't get toxic with vitamin D but I started having a abnormal heart rate when I started getting my level too high so be careful.  There are side effects if your vitamin D level gets too high.  I was dizzy and abnormal heart rate.
