You need to go back to feeling HAPPY and PROUD of your hard work.  You've lost from the starting weight 60% and from the surgery date 65%. This doctor needs to go back to elementary school and learn basic  math before he sticks his foot in his big fat mouth again. We've roughly lost the same amount because my numbers are from 2 weeks ago. I eat around 1000 cals a day.  I drink as many protein shakes as I need to keep my numbers where they need to be, so it varies. AND, I went to 4 specialists in the last 30 days(all affiliated with Johns Hopkins Hospital) and ALL of them were more than impressed. I think you need to take a bow and don't let this idiot get you down. From me to you...GREAT Job!!!!!

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope the gathering of you, and those who loved your friend bring you all some peace of mind.

I'm sorry about your rash, but in a way happy because it will be the vehicle you need to get the panni done. Think of it as the silver lining!

You are doing a wonderful job.  Your weight loss is excellent, in my opinion.  Keep your head up and be proud of your accomplishment.  I also wouldn't omit the shake, you do need the protein.

I'm at one year and have lost 70lb.  I've had basically no weight loss for the last three months because of issues other than RNY. I remember going in at 6 months disappointed that I hadn't lost more but my NUT said I had done an excellent job.

Trust yourself, not your doctor's comments.  You have lost more than 18 pounds a month-almost 5 a week. Good weight loss is 2 a week.  You should have no complaints--and you should feel fantastic about your progess.

I agree with the others. Your doc is certifiably insane! Your weight loss is amazing and you should be incredibly proud of yourself.

When I saw my doc for the 6-month check, I was down 86 lbs. He told me I was doing great and that I was right in line with what they would expect.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Carrie,

For what it's worth, I think you are doing AWESOME. I know you have been dealing with a lot lately (with the loss of your friend), and I am sure this did not help, nor does the infection. I can only hope to have lost that much four months from now (when I am six months out)!

Please keep your chin up and be proud - you are doing great

Just for the record, my surgeon just told me the OPPOSITE of what your surgeon told you...mine told me that to lose faster I should eat between 1000-1200 calories a day. He said anything less makes your body go into starvation mode which hinders losing. I told my doc I was only getting around 700 calories a day and he said to up my calories by adding another protein shake and a few more snacks. Makes you wonder about all these surgeons and their different plans. I think you're doing great and hope to do as well.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

I am, sorry but surgeons shouldnt' be telling you what to eat and how many calories to be eating.  They are trained in cutting and rearranging your guts - not nutrition. If you continued to only eat 700 calories a day, your weight loss would stop and you would be malnurished.   111 pounds in 6 monhts is amazing.  I actually think you need to be eating more food.  Forget the protein bar, they are basically a glorified candy bar with protein.  The chili is fine.  You would be better off having 5 or 6 small meals per day and if you want to count 1 or 2 of them as protein shakes that is fine, but you need to incorrate more actual food into your diet.  3 ounces of protein and maybe a vegetable or even a piece of fruit and 2 cheese sticks for one of them, greek yogurt and a half an english muffin.  A few suggestions to incorporate some real food more often.  Please don't cut the calories
