Anyone else over a year out having trouble getting enough calories in? (x-post)
I ate what seemed like a lot today, but my calorie count was 478 for the entire day. My average daily caloric intake has been 522 since July (according to the OH nutrition tracker). WTF? I got 78g of protein in and all of my vitamins, but I am not sure how I am get any more food in!
It's funny, I just answered this same question for a newbie, but my suggestions included drinking a higher fat milk or eating full fat cheese. I don't drink milk or eat cheese or mayonaise or sour cream or most salad dressings (I have recently developed a taste for Italian dressing). I am not a fan of sweets. My downfall.. the thing that caused me to get to 300 lbs in the first place was fried foods/fast food and carbs. Potatoes (especially fried) and pasta.. rice.. you know.. CARBS. Before surgery, I probably would have eaten a deep fried potato filled with butter and breaded.
This is what I had today:
Egg beaters with a slice of ham chopped up in it (and a little garlic and WAY too much pepper. I accidentally opened the pour side instead of the sprinkle side).
Protein coffee
For dinner, I over ate and finished almost an entire sandwich with sliced roast beef and sliced ham on regular wheat bread. (I almost NEVER eat bread, but I was trying to give myself a calorie boost).
I am currently trying to finish another protein coffee.
Except for the bread, this is a pretty standard day for me food wise. I am not trying to lose any more weight, but I worry that so few calories aren't good for me. Since my weight has been stable, does it matter? (Assuming I continue to get in at least 70g of protein and all of my vitamins). I feel good. I am never hungry. I have energy.

I think you might need to add another meal with food in to get the boost you need. Maybe something like...
Breakfast- egg beaters with ham
Snack- Protein coffee
Lunch- Tuna salad on 6 crackers (with or without crackers) OR lettuce with diced turkey and Italian dressing
Dinner- Roast beef sandwich (if you want the bread/carbs) OR roasted chicken with some veggies
Honestly...I'd eat the above AND another snack. Perhaps a protein bar or shake were I still needing some.

I would worry that eating so few calories is not healthy and will permanently mess up your metabolism. At the 2-3 year mark a lot of post-ops struggle with regain. I eat around 2000 calories a day to maintain my weight at 138 pounds.

That's what I was wondering.. is if it would do any damage. I don't want to mess up my metabolism. I am just never hungry. Honestly, I thought I would start feeling hunger LONG before this.
The protein coffees I drink ... well, because it's my drink of choice. I like them. There are days, though, when if I didn't have to feed the rest of the family (or if people weren't eating around me) I would forget to eat entirely.
I will try harder to get more calories in.. thank you. =]

I just switched to Egg Beaters. Usually it's just egg whites. I will switch to whole eggs. I'm a little scared of juice. I have stayed away from fruit for the most part (because I wasn't sure about the sugars) and the other day I ate a TINY pear and had the worst experience ever! Immediate cold sweats, rapid heart beat.. and then came the bathroom trip. Wouldn't have been SUCH a big deal if I had been at home, but I was at work. (I should know by now not to try new foods in public, right?!)

I'm having a problem getting in more calories, mine are a little higher than yours I tend to average about 750-850.
I've been in a stall for over a month and my personal trainer thinks my calories are the problem and that I should increase them to 1200 or so but I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around adding more in.
I work out 6 days a week, M/W/F/S morning I am at the gym with the trainer, then I go back on M/T/W/F afternoon to work in the gym on my own and Thursday nights I do a 5k training program.
He's says I'm just not fueling my body enough for the workout routine I have going on. So I'm working on getting more calories in, it's just hard.
Hope you get it figured out too!!

That little calories is not good for you. You will lose more weight if you keep getting so few calories, but it's not enough to be healthy, either.
You need to eat more than three or four small meals a day - I'm counting the protein coffee as a meal here. If you do eggbeaters for breakfast, do protein coffee mid-morning as a snack, then eat lunch. Do another snack or protein drink, then eat dinner. Then another snack in the evening.

As usual, I'm sure you're right. I just kept thinking that eventually, if my body needed more food, I'd get hungry. I also figured that as long as I was getting in the vitamins and protein, I'd be alright. I FEEL great, but I wasn't sure about the long term effects of eating such a low calorie count. I think I will take the advice of one of the other posters and start eating on a set schedule. I'll set the alarm on my phone to remind me to eat.
It's so hard to make myself want to eat MORE when I have spent the last year and a half reading about/studying/thinking about/obsessing over how to NOT overeat. I am now in maintenance, and I have read so much about the RNY weight regain (that some people seem to think is inevitable) that maybe I have worked myself up into some weird eating disorder. I don't FEEL that way, and my weight gain concerns are that I will gain it all back, but I don't think I'd care if I gained 20 or 25 pounds back, so it's not like I step on the scale and think "OMG! I am 2 lbs heavier than yesterday.. I need to fix this RIGHT NOW!".
