Leaky JP Drain

 Guys,
I had the pleasure of taking my JP drain home with me, and it started leaking last night.  (I had surgery Wednesday Oct 5).  I had nothing on the dressing until last night, so i changed the dressing and went to bed.  When I got up this morning it was dry!  I have been up for  a couple of hours and it is leaking again.  Is this normal??  I'm going to call my surgeon when his office opens, but just wondering if this is fairly normal.

Oh BTW, there is no foul odor, but the area is somewhat tender.

My drain was taken out in the hospital, so I can't help you. I just wanted to offer an "it happens" because I've heard of it happening to others. Calling your surgeon is a good idea. Good luck!

I am so glad that I did not come home with any drains! I hope it is ok and not infected. Best wishes.

yeah what a pain to go home with that drain.  why on earthy would they do that.  Mine was also taken out in the hospital thank goodness.  But my incision did some leaking for a few days.  Call your office and check on it but i bet they say its normal.

I came home with mine and kept it about 5 days.  How bad it is leaking?  Mine leaked some but nothing extreme.  I always kept gauze around it and pinned it to my PJ's so that it didn't move so much.  I changed the gauze daily after shower and I always had some drainage.  Good luck!  See what your dr. says.
