Your daughters drawing is very sweet and I understand why you put it on your fridge, BUT I find it very sad that our society is so focused on IMAGE that even a 4 year old knows the term FAT and SKINNY. m

I absolutely know what you are talking about, but while my daughter knows the terms fat and skinny, she does not associate them with image. She associates them with health.

It's not fat = ugly.
It's fat = unhealthy.

And I'm perfectly fine with her keeping that mindset. I put it in her head. My mother is in end stage renal failure from complications of Type II Diabetes. She has been obese her entire adult life.  I was heading down that same road before my surgery. I'm breaking the cycle and doing everything I can to foster a healthy, althletic lifestyle for my children.

If you think knowing fat and skinny is bad, your jaw would drop to hear talk about eating her protein first at meals and not eating too many unhealthy carbs.

Hey sounds like you are on the right track with your daughter.  My jaw didn't drop about the protein...as my grandchildren are very involved in my healthy lifestyle and also know alot about protein and sugar.  They also know the term "healthy snack" which their mother reinforces with them.
And now there is no more of "clean your plate, there are starving children in the world"
We try to encourage our gkids to listen to your body.  Or wait for a while before you have a second helping.
Have a great day
