My 2 month NUT appt...
So i went to my appt. this morning and the head lady was there and not the same one that took care of me at my last appt. She was telling me a bunch of good advice..eat until i feel the fullness in my chest...eat protein...try 2 shakes a day instead of one and eat some vegies with meals and i can now start more harder vegies just chew more. But then the dreaded vitamin ordeal happened again. She was going over my vitamins and she was looking at the sheet i had telling me i could just take the small gelcaps of d3. I was like ummm no i can't do that. She looks at me and says why? I said because i had the RNY and we don't abosorb things in oil. I whipped my old sheets out that i printed and showed them to her and she was pretty stunned and perplexed. In fact the appt. went by pretty fast after that. But i tried my best to explain that i need to take 2 centrums a day not ONE childrens flintstone, i said i was taking about 4000mcg of B12 a week not the 1000 they told me to take, and that i am taking sublingual d3. I told her where the sheet came from and that it was their standards for the sugerys (american society for metabolic & bariatric surgery vitamin guidelines). I told her she could keep the sheet if she wanted i could get another one. lol I guess i got her thinking because she actually kept it.
So then i am suppose to go back to the NUT in 3 months (i dont' think so) and i go to make an appt. and they won't make me one because the NUT they had quit. She was the one i had went to for my 1 month appt. Whom i had to educate about vitamin use. I guess she worked a few days and quit. lol I hope i didn't bring that on. Anyways, i am glad that was over. I want to see a dietician not a NUT..lol Otherwise everything went well.

Oh, good job! I hope she really reads the info you gave her.

I had my two month appt. today as well. Mine was a lot easier, though, LOL...my dietitan said I was taking all the right stuff and all my levels they checked were good. My A1C is at 5.9 - that was awesome news, too. I asked that I get a full vitamin panel done for my four month and they were fine with that. She was happy I was taking Vitamin C with my iron, and the MagOx with my calcium citrate. But, I guess I have it a bit easier because my surgeon is the current President of the ASMBS so they have it together in my office.
Did you get released to more foods today? I was so excited to be able to now have salad and whole grains now! I had a salad for lunch - a little spinach, and mostly beans and chicken breast with some balsamic vinegar and EVOO. It was sooo good!

I did get released to eat more food but i have been pretty much eating the normal food i would eat even before surgery. I wasn't a bad eater just ate to much i guess. i can eat any meats..personally like the meat to be tender so i don't have a problem eating it. They told me to start eating some grated carrots, cucumbers and also anything like apples as long as i chew it up. No one said if i can eat lettuce yet but my BSrn told me not until 3 months out. My book has always listed no breads, pastas or rice but this particular month it doesn't say anything about that so i guess i am clear to eat that but obviously i only want to eat this stuff occassionally and chose whole grain foods. Isn't it funny how different programs are? Next month i am cleared to eat anything. Ha! I feel like i am eating almost anything now. So how was that salad? Its somehting i would like to have and i want some chips and salsa too. Been craving a few things like that for ever. ha. alright good to have you just a bit ahead of me and fun to have the comparisons.
I too went for my 6 week appt and the nurse told me that I could take D3 in the gel caps. When I asked her if I would absorb them she toldme that there is lots of room in the instines to absorb the D3 and that I shouldn't dump on those. So I will continue to take them until I have my labs done and see where I'm at. She also told me to be careful drinking 2 shakes aday because of the mild that I use to mix them with that there is extra colories. Also not to mix banana in my shakes. Just try to eat them. They want be between 300 and 500 calories a day. I'm ok with that since I'm not hungry at all. So I will try and stick to that and see if I lose more weight. As it is now I'm losing about 3-4 lbs a week. I think that is a good pace. So we will see.
