Why do I feel so horribble today?

Hi All,
This is my first time posting, I have been enjoying reading everyone else's posts but I now have a question and am hoping someone can help. I am 17 days post op. Up until today have felt great. I was off pain medication by the 2nd day in the hospital and didnt even bring any home. Other than feeling tired once in a while I felt fine. Until today that is. I am feeling horribly sleepy, like I could sleep the entire day and night. I havent felt like eating but knew I had to get something in so I had a protein shake which made me feel like throwing up and still has me feeling that way. It wasnt anything I havent already tolerated fine but because I feel so horrible the only other thing I had was 2 oz of unsweetened applesauce which stayed down but again I feel horrible. Does anyone have any ideas why I am suddenly so tired and feeling so poorly? any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Fatigue is very common the first few weeks post op. So is lack of appetite.  This is a journey and it takes time. I'd highly suggest you find a support group to attend.  Listening to other recent post ops and their challenges and resolutions will help you realize there may be bumps on the way to feeling much better.  Are you taking ALL the supplements your surgeon wants his patients to take?? If you haven't started sublingual B12, do so immediately.  You do need at leat 64 oz of water daily too. Lack of vitamins, and dehydration issues cause you to feel worse than necessary.  DAVE

You should call your surgeon's office if you don't feel better soon. I'm
with Dave though....some of the exhaustion is normal, but dehydration
can make you feel nauseous and much worse...and quickly.  Go back
to sips of whatever fluids you can tolerate....that's really important. Then
try to get some protein down.  If you continue to have trouble getting
anything down for the next day, call your surgeon asap. Don't let it get
out of control.  Good luck.

thanks for your responses.. i have a couple of support systems going on so that part is good and i do take all the vitamins every single day especially the B-12 dots. my guess is that I didn't get enough fluid in because I felt a tiny bit better after getting some water down. It is just weird how I go along feeling fine than one day BOOM! I'm exhausted. I have had plenty of surgeries before this so it doesn't make much sense but oh well..Thanks again!
