I'm so picky

So I posted an hour ago about my stall which is seriously ******g me off and I mentioned that I need cloths really bad, now that I am a size 8.  People were telling me to go to the Goodwill, which is a great idea, BUT.....

I am SOOOOO picky now about my cloths.  I just wondered if anyone else feels that way?  I hate pants that have flared bottoms, I need my waist to be mid rise, not to low not to high.  Shirts have to be fitted.

I thought that if I ever got so lucky to be a size 8 I would love buying cloths and everything would look good, but that is so not the case.  I am so much more critical of myself now.  Anyone else like that?

I'm so with you on that!!!  You might find some selections in church nearly new shops - maybe in nice neighborhoods.  You'd be amazed at what folks donate.  Many times high end clothes have a better fit.

I only buy name brand clothes at Goodwill - all new. Like you I wear mid-rise pants and have found many, many cute clothes. Izod,Gap,old Navy, Levi, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren etc... IMO the shirts are more difficult to find, but the pants are cool. Did you see the deal at target that was posted earlier on this forum? You can get three jeans and three shirts for 10 bucks....?

I volunteered today in a thrift store in a higher end neighborhood and you wouldn't believe the things these people gave away.  There was one blouse that still had the price tags on it, $168 marked down from $210.  There were all kinds of designer labels.  I was joking that I didn't see one thing from Walmart there.  My job was to sort the clothes and anything that had the slightest flaw was to go to Salvation Army.  And the prices killed me.  I bought 3 tops for 75 cents.  You would be surprised at what they sell in thrift stores.  If you are patient you can make some real finds.

Hubby and I have bought most of our new smaller wardrobes at the  Salvation Army mostly our Jeans and dress pants.. We try to go on half price days and we have gotten really nice stuff for next to nothing... Lots of Levi's.. We got him a 200.00 Italian suit jacket for 7.00 never worn... Alot of the times the stuff is either brand new or maybe worn a few times... As fast as we both have changed sizes we have to do it this way or our clothes would be falling off.... I am at a standstill for almost a month now but I am in a 9 so not to worried LOL... WAY better then the 22's and 3X I used to wear... Hope you get it figured out....
Good Luck, Lisa

You have to be willing to sort and try stuff on to have success in a 2nd hand store. My daughter and I make it an adventure. She is 17 and for school clothes shopping we went to Portland and hit several stores. Had the best luck at Value Village and Goodwill. We bought lots of name brand items and spent only about $250 for the whole weekend. We both came home with new wardrobes including 11 pairs of jeans, 20 shirts, some skirts, a dress and a some workout clothes.

I supplement with a few nice key pieces here and there, but for majority of my wardrobe my budget says it is worth the searching...kinda like a treasure hunt. I also love that you kind find unique pieces and not be wearing exactly what everyone else is and still look stylish.

When I was heavy, I found that I would buy clothes pretty much based upon whether or not they fit my body size.

When I first began losing, I was still in that same mindset to a large degree, but now it's a whole different story.  I really have to not only love what I'm thinking of purchasing, but have to feel good in it too, so yeah, I'm a lot more picky than I used to be.
