Dumb question

I see so many posts where people say "oh your are in the honeymoon period, you are going to lose weight no matter what"

I just want to hear your opinions, what is the honeymoon period exactly, how long does it last?  If you are in this stage and you eat cake and carbs and high fat food or fried foods you will still lose weight?

So I guess my question is what exactly would a person have to do to NOT lose weight in the honeymoon period.

I just wonder, I am not doing this!  LOL

People usually refer to the first one to two years post op as the honeymoon period.  It's when the malabsorption is the greatest and the time we lose the most weight.  I think that in the first month or two after surgery, you could not prevent yourself from losing weight if you tried.  Think about the tiny amounts you would eat in the beginning.  Even if all you ate was ice cream and cake, how many calories max could you have eaten per day?  Plus, most people's pouches are kinda sensitive in the beginning so how many could even tolerate that much ice cream or cake?
