Just checking in
I haven't been on this site in about a month, just after I was denied for my surgery. I am just starting the appeal process. I wrote my regular doctors letter and am presently waiting for him to look it over so I can correct it and have him sign it. I have called and left a message for him because it is too close to the new year and I really do not want to pay my deductable.
I have had a few problems over the last month that have probably stalled my weight loss. The denial made me wonder if I had made the right choice by losing so much weight in the first three months (30 lbs) but I decided that I wasn't going to let the insurance company stall my weight loss. I will deal with them later. We had to put our dog of 15+ years down, which was pretty stressful. We just received his ashes the other day. I miss him bunches but know he is in a better place.
On a good note, I started working out in the gym 5-6 days a week. I do cardio 5-6 days a week and strength training 3 days a week. I know over the weekend, I got frustrated because I couldn't go to the gym to work out. What the hell is that all about.
I am also going back to school for my RN. Boy am I biting off more than I can chew.
Anyhow, I just thought I would give you an update on my status. I have been watching my carbohydrates and protein intake and have begun to exercise. Since starting this journey, I am down 41 lbs. I am worried that they will deny me for being under the 40BMI range, which I will argue that when I applied for the surgery, I was 47-48BMI at that time. Hope all is going well and talk to you all soon.....

I was under the 40BMI range, but had comorbidities. I think it all depends on your particular ins. co. Congrats on the weight you have lost and the working out. You will be so much healthier for your surgery.
Have you found out for sure that if you win your appeal that your surgery will be in 2011? Another way to look at it is that if you have it in 2012 and have to repay your deductible, all of your follow up care should be covered whether it is follow up visits or God forbid, for any complications.
Best of luck also on becoming an RN. What an honorable profession you have chosen.
