To those of you having surgery Nov/Dec

Wow!  You have such a great attitude! You are going to be so happy with your results and by summer you won't believe how great you look and feel.  It really is so amazing, you almost can't believe how great this works.  Time goes by fast too, before you know it you are 6 months out!

Don't get me wrong, there are tough times too, times when you think you will never reach goal and it seems like the weight is just not coming off, but those times pass and you wake up one day and see this person in the mirror and think "where did she come from"

I am the thinnest I have been since highschool and I am 40 years old.  It is really hard to believe.

But, really, I think this is a great time to have your surgery and you are going to do great!  Keep posting and updating your progress...share pictures every month!

Mine is on December 14th.  I'm kind of with everyone else, I think the holidays are a good time to do the surgery beause you can start the new year in a new life.  I think there will always be a challenge somewhere with food, not just around the holidays, anyway.  If you're in it, you're in it....just got to keep that goal your number one priority.

Good luck to all you other December people...

So true Lisa, food is always an issue and the one thing I learned really quick after surgery was how centered my life had been on food.  I used it for everything.  I will tell you that the one thing I miss the most is the excitement of eating out.  Now that I can only take a few bites of anything I don't get the joy out of eating out like I used to.  I still go and I order what I want, but then I take most of it home where my 16 year old son then eats the rest of it (he loves that I had surgery LOL)

Good luck with your surgery!

I am HOPING to be on the Nov/Dec but we are still doing the "approval tango." The fact that my employer is leaving our current insurance company at the end of the year makes me a little concerned that they may drag their feet ****il I become UHC's problem on 1/1/12) but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Best of luck to those of you already on deck.

Well, stay strong.  Your approval will come, whether it's now or later, it will come.  Some people have such an easy time getting approval, and some of us have to work a bit harder.  I got denied my first time, my HMO would not even send it to my insurance company until I had 2 years TWO YEARS of managed WL help!  I was so depressed.  But I did what they said, and yoyo'ed for 2 years until I begged my doctor to put in for it again.  This time the HMO put it in and I got this call from the surgeon's office to set my first appointment and I was in such shock and disbelief I think the lady that called me was thinking about hanging up the phone!  LOL  But even after all of that, after my first consult in 2010 I chickened out and thought I could "do it myself" and waiting another YEAR before I got the surgery in May 2011~  Crazy me!

It will happen for you, stay strong.

I had my RNY this past Monday, and I'm glad I did. I'm looking forward to the holidays more this year than ever really. I am just so thankful for so many things, and I am looking forward to the time spent with friends and family. I will focus on that more and food and drinks less. I have a feeling I will feel MUCH better too! I don't really think temptation will be an issue for me simply because I waited so long to have this surgery, and I just want to do everything right.

WOW!   Thanks for those words of encouragement.  My surgery is Nov 28th and I can't wait.  I've always done so much for others, now it's time for me and I'm excited for finally have that date approaching.  I'm sure there will be tough times, wish I would pack a little you in my pocket to pick me up in those times, but I'm sure that with my eyes focused on the future I can trudge through those tough times.

I always enjoy spending time with family and friends at the  holidays and this year I'll be right there with them taking it all in (the spirit of the season) but just less food.  Hey, when they are all tired from the turkey I'll still be going strong. :)

Good Luck to everyone with your Nov and Dec surgeries.  May we all have a wonderful New Year as we start 2012 off with a whole new hope.

In the spirit of the seaon, let me close by sharing two things, something I'm thankful for and a wish for 2012.  And I encourage all of you to share yours also!

I'm thankful for my family.
My wish for 2012 is success with my surgery and to be dancing before 2012 ends.

Oh, I think you are going to be just fine!  I think you wish for 2012 is going to come true and your happiness is going to be more then you can handle at times.  You have such a positive attitude!

If you need me, I am only a computer stroke away!  Hit me up anytime for encouragement.  I know there have been MANY MANY times that I felt down and just came here for a pick me up.  With out this site this journey would not have been as comfortable.

Keep in touch and let us all know how your surgery goes, I will be thinking about you on the 28th
