Question about protein coffee

I'm very proud that I tried and made protein coffee for the first time today.  I took a scoop of vanilla pure protein and mixed it with a little milk and some pumpkin spice creamer to liquefy it.  Then I poured in my coffee and mixed it all up.  It was pretty good, but a little chunky still.  Should I blend it?

Is this how you make protein coffee?  What other receipts are there to try?

You can blend it, but it  might put too much air/bubbles in it.  Usually I just keep stirring until its smooth when I make my hot protein chai tea.  As for my protein coffee, I just use click and blend it in the magic bullet and it comes out smooth.  Click doesn't have as much protein as a scoop of regular vanilla protein powder would tho.  It may also depend on the brand of protein you're using as well.  I use GNC AMP Vanilla and it is smooth every time.

that's how I make it.

Occasionally I do get some little chunks.  I have found that some brands are more likely to clump up than others.  I also find that if I don't make sure I get it really smooth when I'm mixing it with my soy milk, it's not going to get any smoother when I put it in hot liquid.

I have one of those little bullet blenders, and I use that for my protein mixture.  While my Keurig is brewing my coffee, I put a couple ounces of milk, a lil scoop of UpcalD calcium, a scoop of Body Fortress Vanilla Creme whey, several shakes of cinnamon and about 1/2 a scoop of Click protein (more for flavor than anything).  I pulse that for a few seconds in the Bullet to mix it and de-clumpify (yes, I made up that word!!  *grins*) the mixture, then pour it into the coffee.

Occasionally I let it mix too long and it does get a little bubbly.  In that case, I let it sit for a few minutes before I pour it into the coffee.  It eventually releases the bubbles.

I have this at least twice a day... a good way to get in substantial protein and two of my 3+ doses of calcium a day!  :)

I use SF hazelnut creamer (powder) and I mix my unjury unflavored protein in with my powdered creamer and stir until all the lumps are gone - then I add it to my coffee and stir briskly.  I rarely have lumps.  However, since you are using liquid to mix it with, I would recommend adding a little liquid at a time until its a very thick liquid and slowly add your coffee, stirring the whole time.  That should take care care of the lumps.  I have to do that when I make hot chocolate with cocoa.  The cocoa always wants to bubble up, so I have to add a few drops of milk at a time and stir until its a thick liquid then slowly add my milk.  It works for me!

I usually just do the stir method but lately I've started putting the creamer and protein in a blender ball container and just shake it a few times.  This works really well and mixes beautifully.  I then add my coffee to the container, give it a couple shakes and then pour back into my coffee cup.  Quick, easy, and always works.

I shake the protein powder and milk up in my blender bottle but I have found that if the coffee is too hot it may still clump.  I add water to my coffee until it is cooler.  I heard the liquid should be below 130 degrees.

PROTEIN COFFEE!

Shaker bottle required!

8 oz high protein fat free milk
1 cup regular coffee (I also make decaf if I am having more than one, only one cup of coffee a day for us)
1 Scoop EAS vanilla whey protein
7 to 8 pumps of your favorite sugar free syrup (Currently, we are LOVING Starbucks Sugar Free Cinnamon Dolce, available at your local SB)

Pour the 8oz of milk into the shaker bottle.  Add your scoop of protein, and the 7 to 8 pumps of syrup.

Shake well.  Shake again!!

Once its completely dissolved (the protein) open the shaker bottle and pour in the cup of coffee.

Shake again.

You can warm this up in the microwave.  I add hot coffee and then microwave for about 30 seconds all together.

Pour in your favorite coffee mug (you will need a big one, this is about 20oz of liquid) and enjoy.

It's warm, creamy, and approximately 35g of protein.

ENJOY!

Protein coffee is great!
I always seem to get lumps so I strain the hot protein in a tea strainer. I keep it with me in a baggie with my protein packets.
I just can't seem to get past the lumps without gagging. Turns a curdled mess into a perfect drink!
