Update on appeal process
I got a call from my primary doctor, who spoke to the physician that denied me. He told my doc that I wasn't denied because I didn't have a failed attempt at weight loss, it was because there was nothing in my paperwork that stated I had attempted to lose weight in the last year. My doctor asked me if I had tried to lose weight over the last year and I told him yes and he said he was in the process of disputing the claim process, so evidently we are not in the appeal phase yet. He said we were reading the denial letter wrong and that there needed to be something in my paperwork that showed I attempted to lose weight in the last 12 months and was unsuccessful and although I have been very successful in the past five months (down 40 lbs
), I wasn't denied because of my good weight loss but because something was missing from my paperwork. This is good news, RIGHT....So I am being more positive and hoping to get this settled and hopefully have the surgery before Jan 1 because I am going to be starting school for my RN on Jan 9 and I really do not want to pay an extra $350.00 for my deductable. Go figure...We will see how it pans out. Have a great night.
