I weigh 374 pounds. I have this problem with my hands. Doea anyone else have or had this problem? WHERE DO I PUT THEM? If Im sitting in a chair I cant comfortably rest them on my legs cause they slide off, Im so big.I have to hook my thumb into the top of my pants or in a car I put them into the seat belt that goes around my lap. If I stand up in church my stomach goes over top of the seat in front of me! And I try to gold my hands behind my back and they wont stay. This sounds so stupid. Has anyone else had these problems? My surgery's at end of January. I CANT WAIT!

My friends and sisters used to laugh and say I sat like a pregnant person. I always rested my hands on top of my belly. It was the only comfortable postion for them. I completely understand about church too! I was never able to kneel in prayer because my stomach was too big.

Congratulations on your date in January!

I totally get this!  I even used to try different poses with my arms and hands to see which made me look thinner when I was sitting, standing up, etc.  Of course at 340 pounds no amount of posing your arms is gonna make a difference, so finally I settled on keeping my hands in my pockets most of the time... they stayed in there pretty well.

Yep, not so far removed that I can't remember the "hands issue". Now at 1 lb away from goal weight, my hands drift towards feeling my ribs & hip bones - so awesome to be able to rediscover them!!!

I totally understand!

I usually put may hands on my hips when I am standing.  This makes me look twice as wide but it is the only comfortable position.

When I stand up in church my "dunlop" lops over the seat in front on me as well.  If the person in front of me stands up as well we're good.  On Mother's Day the pastor asked the mother's to stand up.  The man in front of me did not.  I almost died of embarrasment when my belly bumped him in the back of the head and he truned around to see what had happened.

I ususally clasp my hands on my stomach or grab one thumb with the other hand.  People ofen ask me if I had something wrong with my hand.

It does not sound at all stupid.

I too look forward to solution of "the hand issue".

me too! For sure! And I have had that happen to me also, when I was standing and the girl in front of me was sitting --in church-- and my stomach hit her in the back of the head too! HAHA Its mortifying but still funny. You have to have a good sence of humor or will go crazy! You know?

I tend to hold my hands in front of me, under my boobs and on top of my belly. But, I think this is mostly because that's the way you stand in the OR so as not to contaminate yourself. As my belly gets smaller though I have less of a shelf to rest on, lol

i wear pants, and all my pants have pockets, and hands are in pockets if i need to put them somewhere...sometimes when i am sitting at home by myself, i tuck them under my belly...i kinda sleep that way too...each hand under the boobs or under the belly and elbow on a pillow that is beside me...i use alot of pillows that is for sure...
