Hi Tawnia!

What does your endocrinologist have to say about your issues? I am getting in between 80-100 grams of protein daily with food and protein drinks. I haven't seen an endocrinologist yet, but had planned to ask about one at my appointment with my PCP on Tuesday and with my nut on Thursday.

It really is a problem. I eat very well nutritionally and my calories seem to be in the correct range, but I am just not gaining!

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

If you are hypoglycemia, you need to consume a lot of  nuts, beans, peanut butter and cheese to gain weight without dropping your blood sugar. Best of luck!

I am in the same boat except I don't eat any refined carbs or gluten.  For a while I would dump on too much carbs or fats and even sugar alcohol.  I tried making a smoothie with Greek yogurt and fruit and it made me sick.  Fortunately I have either found the right combinations and amounts or my tolerance has changed but I haven't dumped for a while, knock on wood.  I haven't had a problem with reactive hypoglycemia at this point, either, thankfully.
I don't really get hungry and have to remind myself to eat so I know how that feels.  I get in about 1900 calories a day at this point.  I gradually add in some more food to increase it.  I get in at least 150 grams of protein a day, about 150 grams of carbs and at least 100 grams of fats.  I have protein drinks, oatmeal, fruit, complex carbs like potatoes, butter and cheese with a lot of things.  I also eat about every 2 hours, around 8 or 9 times a day.  I feel the way you do at times, like I am so focused on food and how much and how often.  I track every thing I eat for my doctor.  My next plan is to go to a nutritionist, which I have been avoiding because my insurance doesn't pay for it.  My surgeon has told me he may put in a feeding tube so I am motivated to avoid that.
I also have good labs and generally feel pretty healthy although I have been sick a few times so my resistance seems to be low and my energy is down, too.

Have you had your insulin to glucose ratio checkeed? I have hyperinsulinemia and waas on metformin for years to loweer my levels and keep blood sugar up people dont realise tht metformin helps reactive hypoglycemiaa in some people. I usedd to be hungry all the time. The more i ate. The more hungry i was. Aafter surgery they took mme off of it and iit was a bad iidea. I was seeing 60-80. From right after surgery i felt hungrh all ghe time and miserale. An hr and half after eating i was hungry and blood sugaf in 70s. No weighht loss. Started on metformin again a week andx half ago and bllood sugars are normal and i can go a few hrs withoutt hunger. Anyway mybe another angle to approach it from. Who knows? hyperinsulinemia can be an underlying cause for the obesity in the first place. For years i felt like i was eating to put out a fire. Metformin gave me relief! Best wishes! Sorry fir typos. I am on my nook...lol
