Need help finding an attorney, more surgeon frustration
Nowhere near 100% unfortunately. Since the reversal I haven't been able to eat much without getting sick. Some days I can get certain solid foods down, but most of the time I'm still on soft foods. i actually feel a bit better since my EGD earlier today where they dilated my stomach some. I managed to get a piece of chicken down earlier without excruciating pain. I actually feel worse now than I did before the reversal. It seems like the reversal screwed everything up.

If you can come up with the $50.00 it will be worth it. I had a situation that no lawyer in my area would touch. They were afraid of the repercussions. I finally had to call the bar association for a referral and the lawyer they referred me to gave me some really good sound advice. That was the best $50.00 I have spent in a long time.
On the find a lawyer issue I do have a few other suggestions in addition to the ones already made. If you know anyone in your state who has used an attorney for anything, get their name and number and give that person a call. Although they do not do med mal, they might know of someone who can handle that for you. Lawyers sometimes know who the good attorneys are in other areas of practice.
Sorry you have had these problems. I hope they are resolved soon.

I got a reversal because I ended up with marginal ulcers that were bleeding profusely. My surgeon said my body just couldn't handle the surgery and "reversed" it. I will warn you if you do get a reversal there is no going back to the way your body was before. I've had a harder time since I had it reversed than I did even with the ulcers. They will attach your remnant stomach to your pouch so essentially you will have an hour glass shaped stomach. Some surgeons, mine included, cut your vagus nerve when they do the RNY. The vagus nerve controls more than just hunger. It also controls your motility and so you may end up with digestive issues afterward. I encourage you to read this member's blog, www.obesityhelp.com/member/jbird1972/ She has gone through almost the exact same things I have, but her experiences give you an idea of what life after reversal is like. If I had it to do over again I would of never let them reverse me.
Do they have any idea why you're getting sick? I hope your scope next week shows something. I wouldn't wish a revresal on anyone. It's a lot more complicated and risky than the RNY. If your bariatric surgeon can't figure out why you're having nausea and vomitting then maybe try to see a GI specialist. My surgeon is an asshat, obviously, but my GI seems like he really wants to help and seems much more knowledgable about the issues I'm having than even my bariatric surgeon. It never hurts to get a 2nd opinion. I just wish I wouldn't of waited so long and would of done it before my reversal.

No suggestions, but I wanted to suggest that if you are considering a lawsuit, you might want to protect yourself by removing the surgeon's name from your profile. You never know what they might find posted here to try to use against you (some surgeon's office staff do peruse this site and your set of complications and reversal are unique enough that they could likely identify you with the surgeon's name in your profile).

I want to second walterswife's advice on how to find an attorney. Other lawyers know who is the best in their area.
The lawyer in California (forget his name) who specializes in bariatric cases for insurance might be a good resource, too.
A complication might be that if you sue, the other bariatric surgeons nearby are going to be afraid to touch you. Even if you don't sue, they may not want to touch you because of your complications being high risk for them now, too. You might end up having to go somewhere that specializes in dealing with other surgeon's screw-ups all the time doing revisions. One on salary and at the top of the profession would be less afraid of a lawsuit. This would be a referral center like Cleveland Clinic. There was a nice series in the nespaper on cleveland.com about the heart center recently with videos so you can see what kind of place it is.
Anytime other doctors bring up the subject of getting an attorney, you know it's serious. Getting a bariatric surgeon as an expert witness might be difficult if not impossible. I bet the attorney in California has resources for you. Maybe called the Obesity Law Center? Something like that. He does consultations over the phone.
At least now you know. Good luck. We are behind you all the way.
