Was I bad?
Sounds like a normal amount to eat to me.
And no, your surgery is not a failure. You are just losing a bit slower than some people. We all want to be the fastest loser but of course everyone can't be the very fastest.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
each surgeon is different. I know that my body will hold onto fat if I am in starvation mode! I plan on proceeding as soon as I am able because I am sure I know that my body will start to loose more weight then at least ai am hoping from past experience. Don't beat yourself up your body may be in a starvation mode and more protein may be what it needs. Good luck.
Your surgeon progresses you very slowly. Were you "bad"? No. You were human. If you did not have any negative issues then you will be fine. Egg, cottage cheese are high protein foods. NSA applesauce is an appropriate food after surgery.
We need to lose the "diet, cheat' mentality. Would a normal person think those were bad foods? Absolutely not they would think that they were very healthy foods.

OK, you probably do need to speak to someone for the reasons why you thought that food would help your feelings, but I think that these long term liquid diets are a form of torture by sadistic surgeons!!! Many, many of us don't have to do this and for you to be judged by people that are not walking in your shoes is a little harsh!
Eating food is not "bad" and you really made some pretty good choices! Go and get a therapist to deal with the head issues but don't judge yourself as a failure for doing what most of us were doing at this stage!

Simply put, food is fuel! Food is NOT a friend, a companion, a confidant, etc... If you consider good fuel in = good energy out, you made some good food choices, but as others have mentioned, we need to change the way we think about food. I eat 4000-5000 calories a day 4 years post-op, and take in about 700G+ of carbohydrates a day3... BUT, thats because my body needs the FUEL because of the new life I have decided to live! You will figure this out, just focus on sticking with your surgeons' recommendations and dont beat yourself up about eating eggs, cottage cheese, and applesauce. It's all good...

There is no need to beat yourself up or make yourself feel bad.
You made what was possibly a bad choice. So what? Learn from it and don't do it again.
It's only really a problem if you don't learn from your mistakes. You didn't ruin yourself or your surgery.
You have a new life to live. Like Dan said, food is fuel, it isn't comfort, and it isn't a friend.
Good luck with your weight loss.
