8 months today and crabby! (long vent)
Well... today is my 8 month surgiversary day... And I could not be more crabbier! This just hasn't been a very good month.
I have been sitting at -98# on the scale for quite a while now.... hoping today would be a great day to get on the scale and FINALLY hit that 100# mark.... And guess what?? I gained 2 fricken pounds!
I am clearly aware that this is my own fault... just still pissed me off.
I am eating for CRAP... This week I am CRAVING salt (and other junk too).... So I know that is part of the reason of my weight gain. I have gotten in my 80 grams of protein (isopure) but the eating portion of my diet sucks! I do not cook first of all, so I just eat whatever is easy...
which ='s JUNK!!
I have this strange thing STILL going on in my stomach! Thought it was a side effect from having my gall bladder out... but not so sure of that anymore.
Anytime I have a bowel movement equals horrible crampy rumbling stomach and diarrhea (or at least loose stool). Tried paying attention to my diet. Thought it was apples.... quit eating those... it still happened, Then thought my yogurt was triggering it.... still happened...
Saturday woke up - on our 20 min ride to Toys R Us... my guts started acting up.... spent a half an hour in the bathroom there in such discomfort. Just don't get it!!
I have totally quit taking my vitamins.... I just don't want to, I am so ANTI everything right now I can't stand it! I am well aware this is the worst thing I could do... I will start taking them again soon.
Working out..... pffttt!!! That is in a whole other post! I really do wanna workout - I want to run... I promised myself to run a 5K on the 4th of July.... again... whole other post.
Sorry for this post - just really needed someone to vent to!

~Jamie~ Okay I'll start off nice with the truth that I understand the frustration. The next truth is, that we don't we don't get to keep wollowing in self-pity. Time to get over it and get back on the wagon. Now, since you're eating junk, the bowel issues may well be dumping. Fill up on healthly food, not junk food and Isopure. As for not cooking there are plenty of healthy foods that require little to no preparation. For example, Boar's Head Low Sodium Premium Deli Ham, Turkey, or Chicken. Canned lean chicken breast, canned beans, a Small Wendy's Chili. There are more, but you probably already knew that. Eat simple, clean and healthy, by the rules. You know the drill. And as for the vitamins, this may sound harsh, but you've basically decided to hurt yourself because you're frustrated. Surely you value yourself more than that. You did after all go to the trouble of having surgery for some reason.
Thank you for the post red rider.... I am well aware of what I'm doing. Just been a bad month. I will get back on the wagon so to speak. Thanks for your words. It's actually nice to read. (in a weird way)
As for eating the junk... And dumping. This has been goin on for longer than my episodes of crappy eating. But thanks for the thoughts.
I do know how to eat well - or at least ok. I love turkey n cheese and refried beans. Just lately chose not to. But will start!!!
Thanks again.

Well to start congrats on your surgery anniversary. Everyday is a new adventure and you've made it this far so now it's time to start living life.
It's okay to miss a few pills a week. Sure, don't make a habit of it but don't beat yourself up and think you are Anti-anything because it only means you are Anti-you and that can't be right because look at all you went through to get healthy again. So take them pills they are on your side. As a suggestion if you are not using a pro-biotic I would start. My bowel problems have all but diminished with their usage. But it may be some other issue I would suggest a stool sample run for any long term diarrhea. It's easy and can rule out many things.
As far as foods. I too don't cook as much as I should but have made things that are easy and good to make work for me. A few examples of easy things I eat on a weekly basis is:
Perdue Simply Chicken Bites: I cook these about 5-10min longer than the package says and it tastes crispy like it was fried. I feel like I am cheating with it. I throw those bad boys in the oven and then eat them with a cobb salad (easy boiled eggs & bacon baked in oven), make my own KFC mashed potatoe bowl, Kung Pao chicken and many more. Or just by themselves with Franks Buffalo sauce.
Greek yogurt with Torani SF raspbery syrup
Steam bag veggies
Peanutbutter / Egg english muffin (weird, but don't knock it until you try!)
Lots of boiled eggs which equal egg salads, snacks, on top of salads
And of course chili which you can add cheese and greek yougurt to for a protein kick instead of sour cream.
As far as your 5K. Just sign up. Get out there and do it! No more excuses. After the holidays find a New Years 5k and sign up an just do it. You don't have to finish first and you won't finish last. But you'll finish and it is an amazing feeling no matter your time. When I did my first I was about 7 months out I was nervous. I did really good on my time because I made no "goal" other than to finish and be proud of myself. YOU CAN DO THIS! And then you will get the "bug" and crave your next 5k so you can make a "goal" to beat your first 5k. And you will!!!
Be proud of yourself you made it this far and life really has just begun for us!
( in my not so humble opinion.
:) Take care!

Not sure I can be much help having a crabby week myself. But I will tell you after I had my Gallbladder out, I have NEVER pooped normal again. My doctors always joke about it. Loss is my way of life now. It takes some time to get used to but you will find foods that dont bother you.
As for the vitamins I'm in the same vote I hate the taste and look at the bottle and walk the other way. I'm sooooo bad.
Hope you get back on the wagon soon!!!!

sorry to hear your having a tough time...i hope things get better. One of the things i think would boost your confidence is to either take a cooking class or buy a cook book. Really in order to be successful and make you feel better, you need to start creating easy meals in the kitchen. Nothing is really to hard to make as long as you keep it simple and clean....pop some pork chops in some marinade and grill them or bake them..make some home made chicken nuggets from chicken breasts cut up in chunks...and on and on. You can buy frozen vegies that you can microwave in a few minutes to go with your meat (protein). Just start taking care of yourself. Stay away from white bread and rice and flour stuff..start eating wholegrain bread, brown rice, pasta... and good luck..you have done well so far....
I am 9 months out and the last 8 weeks have crawled, admittedly in part because I am no****ching my carbs and don't exercise. The thing is, I am okay where I am. This week it has started to come off again, but not sure it will last or not. I may not lose anymore, but I feel awesome. And even when I eat stuff that I feel I should be slapped for, I reach back in my brain and think about what I would have eaten before surgery and celebrate that while it's not perfect, it is miles beyond where I used to be.
A good example - we went out and I had a fish sandwich. It's a resturant that serves this huge bun about the size of a plate with a lot of fish on it. I cut it in half and gave the bigger half to my hubbie. I think took the top off the bun, and then trimmed off the bun where there was no fish. And then I enjoyed every bite. Perfect food? Heck no. But a year ago I'd have eaten the whoel damn thing and probably fries along with it. That is a victory!
So you don't eat 3-4 oz of lean protein, 1/2 cup of veggies and hald serving of startch. Bet you are still eating better than you useed to.
So you had three Christmas cookies. bet you at 8 before.
Accept the small victories and do the best you can with where you are today and love who you are, a non-perfect human being who is much healthier than she was a year ago!!!!
