I took about a week and a half off, BUT I have a desk job and at the time I only worked half-time.

I am taking a full six weeks off. I had surgery on 11/29 and supposed to go back to work on 1/9, but doctors office won't give the ok yet. I have had 2 dilatations since surgery, so they are holding back giving the ok. Could be longer than 6 weeks!!

No work for the first week. Worked about one hour per day for the second week. (I work only a half mile from home, so the commute is nothing.) Today is the first day of the third week, and I expect to put in a full day, except for a really long and relaxing lunch break. Which is now over. See y'all later!

I had open RNY.  I took 2.5 weeks off but I have a desk job.  In retrospect, I wish I had taken 3 weeks off because I was very tired after about 4 hours of work.  Guess it depends on the person.

I have an office job as well and took 4 weeks.  I had an open RNY also, and was so glad for the 4 weeks.  It wasn't until the 4th week that I had the energy and really no or low pain.

I havent had surgery yet but my doctor said two weeks. I have a desk job and also work from home so I only go to the office twice a week anyway. My old supervisor at a previous job said she was also told two weeks but milked it to get four weeks off. She said she could have gone to work after two weeks but wanted time to work on her foods, water, protein etc.

I took 2 weeks off work and scheduled my surgery so I woud have 16 days off.  It was plenty for me.  I have been back at work for a little over a week now and I'm tired, but other than that doing fine.

I am one of the lucky ones & got approved for 8wks! I am an RN & was told be the Dr at least 6wks b/c of lifting patients. I took the additional 2 just because & am very glad I did. I was told if I needed more I could take up to 12wks.

Desk job for me too BUT I took 5 weeks because I deserved it and wanted to be sure I had my meal routine down before returning to my hectic work environment.  Listen to your body is the best advice
